...Patrick are you actually asking something there or are you just pulling a "me" and rambling for ten minutes while you work out your own thought processes ....

...i know i do that, a lot.

haha

hilarious post by the way. i love the "startling inability to cook"

hmm... as a song in a very insightful film once said... if you're gonna be dumb, you have to be tough..

...not saying that you're dumb... just saying maybe it's time to get tough..

i totally understand and hell - empathise with what you're saying though about how you're "stupid" with money...

i personally spend like it's going out of fashion... i have a sad and rare condition where i'm completely addicted to holidaying, buying entire new wardrobes whilst abroad, buying car mods and the likes.. i'm terrible...

the thing that keeps me with a level head - is that i KNOW to only spend money that is money belonging to me..

i made myself hate the idea of somebody making money off my money.

i hated the idea that someone makes a thousand dollars from me spending $2000.

why should i work and pay more money for a material posession that won't mean jack sh1t when i die?

start thinking things like that, and it will open your mind to a while new way of thinking.

why pay 18% interest on a 2 thousand dollar television?

think about what a short amount of time it takes you to save for it.. and have it as YOUR tv. not the banks.

same goes with "radio rentals"

so rohan is essentially saying pay your debts off first THEN save and THEN buy your dream car.

I was in your shoes 10 yrs ago. 15k in debt with AGC/GE finance. they were making 25% a month of me until I cried enough and put every cent I had into getting rid of it. you should do the same in my opinion then buy the R34 NUR you want. ($45k btw). pateince is a virtue.

in my case (and because I'm capable of it) I tend to build most of my cars now. same idea save and spend my money amd cot the banks.

now if you are really savvy and can afford to drive a shitbox for a few years - buy a unit/house clear that , sell it THEN you will have the money to also buy your dream car AND possibly another unit.

my 2c on the matter.

once again thanks guys and yes i guess i was pulling a 'you' and thinking out loud, who needs to blog or keep a rambling stream of word spaghetti diary when you have SAU!

as for the 18% on a 2k tv, thats why i pay off the harvey norman stuff in time, no way im going to pay 30% interest, even i have my limits..

The most i pay is on my anz card which is up to about 22k now and charges 19% interest..now that i see that in black and white it does sober me up a little more re the GTR but if our dollar goes back to 70cents will getting one soonish offset that a little? Also how long are there going to be 2nd hand R34s floating around the japanese markets? I know it costs a lot to keep old cars over there and coming up on ten years for some of them the pool could dry up?

ok enough rambling for now, im glad I finally posted something which raised a smile.

well done re the avoiding plastic by the way eps, if i could turn back time a coupla years i would probably do the same, but once your on the slippery slope..

thats what this place is for - somewhat.

good. pay that off first. :)

there are still plenty around. finding a good one in 10 yrs time may prove a bit expensive but by then you will have your head screwed on straight and be able to afford it anyway.

same goes with the guys looking for the R32's they are out there just not cheap.

the slope does level out :) trust me on that.

Okay, so it's been more than 1 week now, I'm pretty sure Iron Chef would have replied to me by now.

Either:

1) He's not interested in me because my budget is too low for importing a 25GT N/A so he can't be bothered with me as it isn't as profitable to him or

2) None of my messages have been delivered to him including 2 emails, 1 SMS and 1 SAU AU private message over ONE whole week ago.

He told me one and a half days and it's not that I'm impatient or anything, it's just that I want to get the details ASAP, pay Iron Chef, and wait it out while the car is being imported to Australia. The bits during the import process that I can go fast in I will go fast, the importing shipping bit (the slow bit) I can wait it out, so please don't nag me about the impatient talk again because I'm just being realistic.

this is turning out to be quite a tread

i see XXXXXX being slammed and now XXXXXX is being accused of customer service !!!!!!!

just speaking with my own experience.... importing is a very SLOW process "2 cars now"

SAU has being around for sometime and all through that time 90% people have recommended all above mentioned brokers

it only natural for any business have bad days and have few pissed off clients

as for financial advise not sure

something like R34 GTR is always going to be expensive proposition and that even if you get the car for free

i owned R33 GTST, V35 before but the GTR is quite a bit more expensive to deal with, so unless you can afford maintenance and upkeep.. it best to wait till you can

when i was going through auctions with J-Spec, there were tons of R34 GTR and V-Spec 1/2 (NUr and M-Spec different, but i was not looking at them)

so there not going to run out anytime soon

as for the Car, i waited almost 5 months from signing up with J-Spec to me in the car "ask chris :) " but it was bloody worth it - GTR34 is a kind beast

lol ok I THINK I found your email and replied to it - if it wasn't you, then let me know.

1) You can buy a Ferrari or a DR30, they will each make me $990.

2) You should've got an auto-reply saying that you can expect to wait up to 2 weeks for a reply, and that if it's urgent give me a call...

3) The only time I nag is when people are slow paying their bills to my suppliers ;)

Oh sorry, I meant that it would be too hard for you to find a car at that price because I was asking for too much. Don't worry thanks for the e-mail and no I didn't receive any auto-message reply. Furthermore, last week I went to "import factory aka kamikaze imports" the dealer wasn't in...what the? So they took my details and promised to give me a call, and guess what... call never came, so to be honest the customer service there was kind of slack, it's kind of the customer chasing the dealer for a car rather than the other way around.

Thanks Kristian for your email! =D

@chris rogers,

how did u make my quote bits all nice and blue? much nicer than my version where its just some quotation marks..anyway cheers again, looks like its gonna take patience whether i try and import one asap or wait until the debt isnt as astronomical. There is a lot to be said for anticipation but daaamn..

@iron chef

you still got this one ?

http://www.ironchefi...d=417&Itemid=30

such a pity its a track car only, absolutely gorgeous

oh and btw your site is much nicer than J-specs though they seem to have a lot more featured cars. been lazy or fussy? :P

i like how your make a comment on each car whereas other sites just provide specs.

jspec has some freaky cars too, ie. jeremy clarksons actual Gallardo and the Delorean from back to the future for 30k, nice.

@Maclaren

so did you end up with the sweet ride that is an R34 in the end or happy with the V35? i know all about maintainence costs, the R33 is constantly needing upkeep and people keep telling me it now needs a respray but then i realised i dont love it enough to go that far. if im going to be forking out for 'living' costs it might as well be on something i love.

good to know theres plenty still out there and looks like the dollar is going to be high for a while yet..

Edited by hamiltonau

lol I'm sure there'd be a workshop who would comply it :S

And my lack of stock is partly flat-out, partly my site is an old clunker that makes it really hard to upload new stock in a hurry, and partly because I only list cars from buyers I regularly use.

it was a bit of a wait. I got word of it sept I think for a job I had to do on it. got the car about jan and then it cleared compliance then I got it late jan/feb.

nice toy btw.

    • Welcome to SAU, what are you looking at buying?
    • I checked the injectors again (1 and 2, since they’re easiest to access) to make sure they weren’t clogged. Even though the entire fuel system had been cleaned, I wanted to be certain. Everything looked clean, so I reinstalled and connected everything. When I started the car to confirm everything was okay, it immediately revved up high, so I shut it off straight away. I checked to see if I’d missed a vacuum hose or something, but everything was connected. On the second attempt, the car ran without the high idle, but I noticed a distinct “compressed air” sound coming from the engine bay. Tracing the sound, I pushed injector #6 forward slightly and the noise stopped — it turned out it wasn’t seated properly, despite the fuel rail being bolted down. While holding it in place, the car idled steadily without stalling and ran for over 5 minutes. At this point, I pulled all six injectors out just in case I hadn’t seated them correctly or dirt had gotten onto the O-rings. Unfortunately, I discovered that I had damaged 3 out of 6 injectors (the OEM 270cc ones) during installation. So yes, this was my fault. Since only the pintle caps were damaged, I’ve ordered a Fuel Injector Service Kit from NZEFI to refurbish them. In the meantime, I reinstalled my new injectors – the car now idles fine for over 15 minutes without stalling. I have not attempted to drive it so far. It’s not perfect yet, as it hesitates when the throttle is pressed, but it’s a big improvement. Unplugging the IACV with the new injectors idles at around 800rpm, even with the IACV screw tightened fully. But this is probably due to tune.
    • I wanted to try and preserve the front bumper as long as possible, they're not cheap and are made to order in Japan. Taking inspiration from my previous K11 Micra build where I made an undertray for the Impul bumper, I did the same for this BN Sports bumper but a little slimmed down.  This time round I only made a 'skid plate' (if that's the correct wording/term) for just the bumper surface area, the Micra version covered the gap like an undertray. Starting off with a sheet of mild steel approx. 0.9mm thick 4ft x 2ft in size. I traced around the bumper, cut it out and cleaned the edges. Luckily I was able to get two halves from one piece of metal In the video I installed it as is, but I've since then I've removed it to spray and add a rubber edging trim. The rubber trim is suitable for 1-2mm and it's a really nice tight fit. The bolts had to be loosened due to the plates being too tight against the bumper, the trim wouldn't push on I used some stainless M6 flat headed bolts for a flusher finish (rather than hex heads poking down), I believe this style fastener is used for furniture too incase you struggle to source some. The corner's are a little wider, but this may be an advantage incase I get close to bumping it  The front grill got some attention, finally getting round to repairing it. Upon removal one fixing pulled itself out of the plastic frame, one side is M8 that fixes inside of the frame, where as the other side is M5. Not knowing I could get replacements, I cut down an M8 bolt, threaded it inside the frame along with a decent amount of JB Weld.  The mesh was replaced to match the bumper. One hole on the bonnet/hood had to be drilled out to 8mm to accommodate the new stud, once the glue had set it could be refitted. I think the reason the grill was double meshed was to hide the horn/bonnet latch (which makes sense) but I much prefer it matching the bumper Bumper refitted and it's looking much better IMO The Youtube video can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVZP35io9MA
    • The video for the servicing and fuel filter change can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLJ65pmQt44 One of the main jobs I wanted to do before the car officially went on the road, was to remove the awful looking blue silicone hoses. There's nothing wrong with having coloured silicone hoses, but I realise as I'm getting older I prefer monotone engine bays with a splash of colour on the engine cover(s). I cover this in a lot more detail in the Youtube video, so unfortunately there's limited photos of the process. The intercooler, upper radiator, boost vacuum and upper breather hoses were all changed to black silicone with mikalor clamps. The only blue left is a blanking cap at the back of the inlet manifold and the GReddy pulleys (which will be replaced for stock when the cambelt gets replaced) While the intercooler pipes were off I gave them a quick clean/polish too A before photo I do have a replacement air filter on its way. Fuse box covers were painted blue, they're now satin black Another job on the list while the bumper was off, is to add some mesh https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54737966256_99b28bfa30_c.jpg[/img] I was hoping to use some thin wire to secure it, but it seems I've misplaced it and the wire I had was too thick to twist easily. I ended up using cable ties for the time being https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54737131882_c2b7989dcc_c.jpg[/img] Was pleasant to see this https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54737131627_8b2aab13b3_c.jpg[/img] The last thing to do was to fix the front grill and re-mesh that to match but I ran out of time The Youtube video can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4FsF6tgizE&t=23s
