Hi All,

I tried this in the NSW section, but not getting any replies :D

----

Currently importing a R32 GT-R and I want to get everything sorted well and truely before the car gets anywhere near Australia. Geoff from Prestige recommended the following companies to do the necessary modifications to comply with the ADRs (the price they quoted me is listed):

Southside Performance Imports: $1200 + blue slip + rego.

GM World (Auto Disposals): $2000 (inc blue slip) + rego.

Sydney Compliance Centre: $1500 (can't remember if it was inc/ex blue slip).

Has anyone had experience with those three companies? Was it good, bad, indifferent? Anyone who has used a different company, feel free to post the details plus any comments about them.

Thanks guys!

Lucien.

ive been told that anyone can do this. i mean anyone can install all necessary items such as flat drivers side mirrors, side intrusion bars etc... im currently looking for a compant to do this aswell. another cost invloved is tyres. im just making sure i get a set of cheap wheels before so i dont have to fork out the money for brank new tyres (im cheap)

I did all teh work myself except the side intution bars as they require buying a kit pulling the doors off and appart and welding in place. I have had dealings with SSPI and I found them to be very good to talk to and deal with. I refure you to the below contact:

Stirling,

Normally we would charge $1200 for all the work required:

Child Restraint Mounts (2) - Supply and fit

High Level Mount Stop light - Supply and fit

Drivers side mirror (flat) - Supply and fit (no longer required)

Unleaded Fuel Filler Restictor - Supply and fit (replaced with a ULP sticker)

Side Intrusion Bars - Supply and fit

Engineers Certificate (prove car meets ADR's)

But if you only need the Child Restraint mounts and intrusion bars we would

charge $600 for those as they are the most difficult jobs required.

You would also need an Engineers report to prove the car meets the ADR's,

these are normally between $500-$550, but we could do one for you for $400

if gotten as a package with Child Restraints and Intrusion bars.

Total of $1000.

Regards

Emanuel

This was the best quote I recieved. I did not endup going for it as I pulled teh doors off and apart, Skyline Performance in Canberra are doing the intrusion bars as offered to do teh kit and welding for $450. Being they are in canberra it makes life much easier.

I would suggest going with SSPI if you are in sydney, that price for all the work and teh cert is great..

I might also ad that the other work is very simple cheep and you should do your self, how ever for $200 you could save your self all the effort ie: drive in drive out..

Hope this helped!

Stirlo_GTR: Thanks for that. SSPI certainly have given me the best quote so far. I may also consider doing most of the work myself since it doesn't seem difficult from what you are saying. Are you able to tell me where you sourced the parts?

Cheers,

Lucien.

Stirlo: Good work. I will also be giving SSPI a call.

Lwells: Got the news about the de-gassing laws? Geoff told me last night. My car will be delayed two weeks due to it im told

The only part you will need to buy and instal is the high mount stop light which I got from auto barn, most auto shops will carry them for about $20... thats all you need to do.. :D

The fuel restrictor is no longer required as it was only there to stop fools from putting deisel or leaded (what ever) fuel in an ULP car.. Deisel/ Leaded (what ever) is no longer available at any pump in aust, and hence you only need a sticker to say ULP only, SSPI can provide this..

Flat mirror is no longer required as of Jan 1st 2004.

This only leaves the child restraints/ intrution bars/ eng cert to do which I would suggest you get SSPI to do for you for $1000... and your all sweet for rego.

depends on condition normal ADR's apply ie would they pass normal rego? give them the pull 1o times test, if they grap no worrys 10 times and dont slip they'll be fine.. make sure there are no freys etc remember these are what saves your life so its important make sure they are in good order.

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
