hey guys my tuner rang me today he was about to put my car on the dyno (VLTRB25) it has just had a microtech lt12s installed. he said car had been starting and running just not tuned however now it just wont start. he has now gone onto holidays for 9 days so i have to wait another 9 days. what do you think the problem is. there is power to the ecu and it cranks over just wont start. what are your thoughts it has fuel and spark could it be the CAS. the CAS was removed for wiring reasons and i have heard that the CAS does not like to be touched and often crap themselves once touched

When you say it doesn't "start", does it just crank and crank and crank with no coughing or spluttering. If the cam timing was out, it should still cough and splutter a bit.

If the CAS is completely dead, then you wouldn't be getting any fuel or spark at all.

yeah nah no coughing or anything just crank and crank and crank. he just said it has no spark so im assuming it would be cas

Sounds like a good place to start, especially if it has no fuel either :)

What series RB25 is it?

Is there an issue with Microtechs and the standard CAS wheel? I have heard of some ECU's having issues and need to use a specific wheel..

How'd you go with this issue?

Sounds exactly like my car. Car was running pretty well, but missed a bit under boost. Got a little worse then the other day while sitting idling for about 5 minutes it started running very rough and would lose it's shit as soon as it started boosting (around 3k RPM). Now it refuses to start. It coughed a few times, even idled very rough for a bit but now nothing. Just crank, crank, crank, no cough, nothing.

I've been trying to hunt down a vacuum leak but haven't been able to find anything.

Where to next?

Car is S2 RB25 (Stagea) with Power FC and Eboost2 running 11PSI. Apparently the car was runnign perfect but started running a little rough after the intercooler was changed and exhaust bolted up. I cannot find any leaks int he intercooler hoses.

Any ideas?

Check and replace the spark plugs. Check for spark, check for fuel by cranking over before pulling sparkplugs out to see if there covered with fuel.

When it was running bad it was very, very fuely. It used about 1/8th of a tank of fuel going from Hurstbridge to Diamond creek and back which is about 6ks each way. Was pumping out fuel smoke at idle.

I would be looking at the usuals after youve checked spark and fuel look at the CAS and afm. CAS are the worst cause sometimes they play up but arent fully dead so they go on and off or just work but operate completely wrong, Ive gone through 3 this year and each time symptoms were different so check it out.

    • First time visitor and currently getting ready to start work on my HK Premier.  Its all stock, 186 with 3 on the tree.  The only mod i have right now is extractors.  I am hoping to get some guidance on slightly modifying the engine to bring a little more power. Just going for a nice, comfortable cruiser.  The car is very straight, however i have been out of the country for 20 years and its been gathering dust at a family farm.  Will be doing quite a bit of body work to cut out some small rust areas (frnt quarter panels and a few other small bits) and fix up the paint.  Will be redoing the interior (its currently black and the seats are in real need of recovering and respringing the driver side (its front bench seat).  The dash needs a little TLC, but no real damage.  As my heater has degraded I am considering fitting something after-market that will be both heater/AC (recommendations here are always welcome). Wanting something discrete that will allow me to use the same controls and not be obvious once inside the car.   For the engine, i have been told i could consider upgrading my cam (imagine i would need a new head as well) and putting a new carby (currently the original stromberg).  However not sure what is going to be the best route.  Would certainly welcome any comments/suggestions.  As  a final step I am looking at changing the wheels. Current hubcaps are in dire need of refurbishment or replacement (imagine its a bit like hens teeth).  Thinking of some clean/classic looking mags (7-inch should be more than enough - not going for a large change in look).  Welcome any comments/advice and of course any questions.
    • I got the ARC M079 due to the space constraint.  Been running mint for the last 3 years.  Plazmaman also seems like a really solid choice but not used myself.    Hunt around for a better price but this is what I have - https://www.rhdjapan.com/arc-brazing-intercooler-smic-m079-bnr32.html
    • Wanted to follow up on this. Did you end up getting the M073? Still deciding on what to get between nismo m073-79 and plazaman.
    • I was just watching these boys up in QLD AWD'ing their S13 too.
    • Por que no los dos? At least my euro brawler is reliable - unlike the JDMs I've had. Sheraaz you look familiar, did you ever come to an SAU VIC meet aaaaaages ago?
