Aus Standard Immobiliser

Hi all,

Have just been reading all the threads on immobilisers, lots of useful info there to be sure! But now I'm wondering if my '04 sedan has one - I presumed it did because I bought it from a dealer already complied, and had to have one for the compliance. If it does, it must be an upgrade as I only have the one single key, no extra fobs, which makes me somewhat worried. Next item on the list is to organise a second key I think!

Anyway, how to tell if I have an Aus immobiliser fitted? Any easy way other than poking all around in the engine bay?

it's NOT there. someone worked out a way to fudge ADR 82/00 and yours has been done that way. it was later proven by dotars that this was in fact incorrect.

so in short - its not there and if you policy calls for one get it fitted. at the very least you should have a black tag hanging off the key. - no tag - its not on the car.

regarding the second key: do you have the metal tag with your original key? No? it a trip to nissan for you. they are the only ones that can look it up for you. NOW if you can find someone with a carmen scanner that will actually pull the code out fo the BCM and allow you to program a key to the car. whilst my scanner will program the keys (I have a launch diagun) I still need the immobiliser codes to access it.

book yourself in to get a nice alarm/immob installed ASAP. I went down to my service department and they showed me whilst laughing, compliance charged me for an Autowatch system that was not even there

Yeah I was reading up on the key thing too. As soon as I get a minute I will be getting the BCM data and either sending off to Japan and/or finding someone to spit the code out for me. Anyone know if Dandenong Nissan or FTG Nissan would be better to try for decent price keys?

Chris: who would you recommend in Melb for fitting alarm/immob? I'm happy to go as far as Bayswater area but nowhere north of the city.

have a few actually. tower in moorabbin or stylyn in boronia or phatt audio in braeside. all can do that car.

I was in the same position. The way I checked if mine had an immobiliser at all, was to get the local keysmith to cut a simple key ($15), and attempt to start the car with this plain key (ie no fob). When I tried, the engine turned over, but it did not start. So it obviously has an immobiliser. However, with no extra clicky-thing, I would guess its the standard Nissan one?

By "incorrect" do you mean it should not have passed compliance like this? I just got mine from a dealer, and am still in warranty, so would expect that they have to bring the car up to compliance before it could of been sold?

Are you talking about a "clicky-thing"? or is there an option for something smaller? I would hate to have to carry around two clicky-things.

Mongoose - installed by Nagoya as part of their ready-for-sale process. Confirmed it's there (key fob, and had 3rd party check it while installing cruise control).

yep NATS 5.0 - nothing else. if it WAS there you would have no lights on start up.

its a relative thing. there are 3-4 compliance packs for these cars and it depends on which one was used. it was proven in 2009 that the local NATS 5.0 module used was not the same as the V35. some RAWS were nabbed on it some got away.

If I have done them - Autowatch. If I have done them by customer request - depends - usually autowatch and usually a FULL tamper proof alarm.

Yeah never really heard anything bad about Autowatch, Dynamco (they merged for others FYI) or other units overall. 3 point immobiliser I'm sure is one of the requirements for insurance.

Full alarm is good though its a matter of finding the right installer who knows how to bury it really.

My extra immobiliser FOB would be with the key, so if they have one, they would have the other. I will however be checking with my insurance to make sure its satisfactory with them.

If they do not have the key, is the factory standard immobiliser known to be otherwise easy to circumvent?
