Nice work Adrian, I had people looking at me all funny when I was cheering from behind the pit wall when you did that 12.5sec @ 116mph...

Now... back to finding where I can gain 0.7sec in my car without replacing the driver

116mph as buster said is around 260rwkw`ish.

congrats on the time 2rismo with slicks you should be able to get very close to a 11. good luck

nicknick i went 12.601 @ 120mph with an rb25 and t88 - running only 345rwhp. i dont mean to be rude but your time with c16 isnt impressive - sure its quick but not for the mods its got. the mph suggest you have around 300kw's. good luck with it though

Yeah I was thinking Adrian would've had around 260-270rwkw. I've had slightly higher mph and similiar rwkw.

Nitrous is bloody impressive stuff! A 50hp shot gives a HUGE improvement.

the mph means nothing, i have dyno sheets on over 400 rwkw if you want to have a look, with an 8 grand launch i had so much wheel spin i couldnt keep traction, and with the clutch slipping in third gear im impressed that it held at all after that launch. but anyways the new clutch is going in this week so next week hopefully will run a beter time, i was also unimpressed with my time, but then again i needed a bad time so i can beat it this week.

i ran a 11.8 @ 124 mph and 11.6 @ 120mph. prooving mph means nothing when it comes to the quatre. anyways i wont know what happends till next week. will run it on pulp next week just so i know what its cappable of doing on the road not just the creek.

Dyno sheets mean nothing, quarter mile times and mph dont lie.

...however 1/4 Mile has a lot more to do with the driver than a Dyno does. My 60ft and TS time/speed show using data from 80 1/4 times on my website) that my car is 'capable' of a 13.8sec although im still hovering around 14.1's so how is that an accurate record of the power my car is making when my 1/4 time is slower than what it should be? (i'm lacking mid-top end).

wreckedhead,

saying that mph means nothing in quarter mile drag racing is about the least correct thing i have ever heard said on the subject.

thousands of drag racers for about 100 years would beg to differ.

dyno sheets mean ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!

To answer the previous question, i will speculate that the car is making about 250-260kW @ the wheels. Will check this in the coming weeks.

Adrian

A real world drag strip MPH figure is a faaar bigger indicator of performance potential than any dyno number. So yeah, couldn't agree with you more Adrian.

I ran 13.0 @ a best of 115.8mph (2.2-2.3 60ft from memory) with ~260rwkw.

Unless you cant keep your foot buried to the floor and change gears swiftly, then mph will be a good indication of potential, of course when you get the quality run your mph will increase, but not significantly, Oftens its found that mph drops slightly when you run that perfect run due to lack of wheel spin

RB20LagWagon - Couldn't agree more.

My highest ever mph is 116.10. Combined with a 2.294 60', this gave me an ET of 12.970

With a lower mph of 115.45 and a much better 60' time of 2.001, I ran a 12.585.

2rismo

So if u r making 250kw@wheels have u upgraded your fuel system?

My limited understanding of NOS is they it speeds up the combustion process by helping burn more air and fuel than normal hence creating more power.

So using NOS still means u need to upgrade fuel system and clutch atleast.

NOS also puts the same stresses on the engine as a big wack of boost from a bigger than stock turbo?

Fuel pump is a Bosch unit but not running any more pressure than std (std reg still in place etc). Extra fuel for the extra oxygen to burn is injected through the same nozzle in the inlet. Nothing extra req'd from the injectors.

Adding Nitrous Oxide (N20) increases dramatically the amount of oxygen in the combustion chamber that is available to burn extra fuel. Remember, you dont make more power with JUST more oxygen.

What?>?!?!?! No. Clutch? Where'd that come from?

NOS also puts the same stresses on the engine as a big wack of boost from a bigger than stock turbo?

Almost, yes. Using N2O also dramatically increases combustion chamber temps, prob by more that upping the boost on a turbo (generally) so technically the motor is more prone to detonation.

    • Was there ever a model of the Stagea m35 that didnt have a badge on the grill? I thought I saw that somewhere, some aero edition or something? I cant find it again? davemoto
    • Its a 2002 vr-x four VQ25DET, silver. Coil overs, lowered, polished alloys and sport exhaust. Bit of a project, was sitting in a shed for a while but runs and drives great.
    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
