Hey all.

I'm planning on entering my skyline in the Formula Tech Whoop Ass Wednesday night drags on the 20th April and thought it would be cool to get some SAU members involved. Anyone interested in coming along to participate or spectate, basic details are as follows;

Location

Perth Motorplex

Cnr Anketell & Rockingham Roads

KWINANA BEACH WA 6167

Competitor Entry 5:00pm

Spectator Entry 5:30pm

Competitor entry closes 8:00pm (or 160 entries)

Racing 6:00pm - 10:00pm

Reaction Time presentation 9:00pm (approx)

Burnouts 9:00pm (approx)

Pro Tree racing 9:15pm - 10:00pm

Pricing

Competitors - Driver/Rider and vehicle $45.00

Spectators

Adults $17.00

Concession $15.00

Children (5 - 15 years) $9.00

Children (Under 5 years) FREE

Family (2 + 3) $43.00

Some extra safety mod's apply to competitor vehicles depending on how fast the vehicle is.

Cars 12sec or slower only require an extra coolant overflow bottle (eg 600ml coke bottle) be mounted under the bonnet and connected to the overflow tube to prevent any potential coolant overflow on the track.

For full details visit www.motorplex.com.au or ring 9419 6622

Hope to hear from anyone interested and see you there!

Hey guys

I raced on the 20th but, unfortunately nobody else showed up.

13.9sec @ 179km/hr, ate a few v8's so I was happy haha

If anyone is interested in planning another night, let me know and maybe we could organise to meet up.

I don't think I'll try organise another skyline drag night atleast for a while due to the lack of interest and responses I received.

But in saying that, if there's anyone genuinely interested in meeting up some time, feel free to pm me or comment on this forum and we'll organise something.

Cheers

Bugger that nobody else showed.... maybe if it wasn't held every week there might be a bit more interest. It's only when you lose your drag strip (i.e. Adelaide over 5 years ago) that you really miss it!! I'd be keen to put my 34 down the strip in a month or so, just need to do a few little things to it.

Edit: What V8's did you beat btw? Would be interested to know how the new R8 clubby's go? Did you race new or old?

Yeah you're probably right.

Didn't get to face any VE's or anything. Beat a few VS-VZ SS commy's. I don't think they were too seriously modded but had the basics - intake, exhaust and all that so I assume they would be pushin something like high 200 or low 300hp atw.

The highlight for me was beating my mates Ford BF Boss 260kw automatic with my manual 34GT-T

Couple of black VE HSV GTS's doin 11's - they were pretty awesome. Not sure about both of them, but I know one of them was supercharged and pretty bloody serious hp (not sure exactly how much).

Someone in the sauwa club was there the first time I went down. He had a midnight purple (I think) 33 GT-R doin low 12 sec runs that I saw. Sounded f**king awesome, had 4 wheels spinning with the launches and looked mint.

If you let me know in advance when you're keen to go down, I'll head down again and meet you if you want. I work 8 on 6 off FIFO for a mine site up North so I'm only available every second Wednesday night.

    • Ok I get you. But isn’t the butterfly intake a headache with the +T?  see this is my plan so far but please advise me into the right direction.  Nistune Ecu, 1000cc Bosch injectors, TD05 or TD06 Kinugawa turbo using stock rb25det exhuast manifold, walbro fuel pump unsure of model I think it’s 450/460, spitfire coils and sparks to suit and a R35 MAF sensor and boost sensor.    I was thinking maybe do a cheap eBay plenum $400-500 or try find a stock det neo intake. I think I’d port match it so it’s getting the full capacity but open to advice please.  Thanks
    • The issue now is the 'fuel cut' while driving, and when it happend, it does not stall. This, I did not test the fuel pressure while driving as I cannot with a fuel pressure gauge. I do have Nistune logs, yes. I have also replaced the MAF Sensor.   Also related to the FPG Fuel Hanger – I just realized that I need a Deutsch Crimp Tool to crimp some cables for the FPG Fuel Hanger. Need to purchase additional cables as the kit only included 2, which are for the float. FPG has not responded to my emails so far since purchasing. I thought about taking it to someone and having it done professionally, but I am reluctant since everyone I took it to messed up in some way.
    • There's a good German place in Brisbane if youre up for the drive 😛
    • The German place in Cabramatta was rock solid, fresh pretzel cooked to order back then. Then it went all quiet, after all the poker machines were removed, then I believe it closed for good. I did drive past the other week and noticed outdoor lighting a big screen, but no idea what is there now.
    • Yeah I suspect even if you hold airmass per cycle/cylinder constant if you get too far away from stock you're still going to have problems running the factory tune within the bounds of the factory load scale. Cams, different displacement/rod ratio, etc. I'm just lucky that the GTIII-SS with wastegate boost + CA compliance cats is pretty much equivalent to stock turbos. When I have actual space I can finally get it tuned and modify the fuel system for flex fuel to 100% handle any detonation concerns when cranking the boost to whatever those dinky turbos can put out.
