By the looks of the video footage I have seen, it was more of a powercruise cruise session rather than happylaps. Looked like quite a few were just trying to line people up to race them down the straights. Also saw people overtaking in corners and going 3 wide on the straights too, no way in hell will I be taking my car out on track with others being as stupid as that.

I was guilty of the power cruise line ups as I didn't realise this was a no no, but more to the point as my battery clamp shit itself was about all I could do for fun as if I cornered hard it would fall out. If this has pissed anyone off I'm truly sorry

Who would been keen for karting at Kingston in a couple of weeks time? I got a rally experience voucher from the boss for Christmas but am too tall to fit into the cars. However I am able to swap the rally voucher for karting ones at Kinston

Definitely keen for this :)

Lining people up is ok as long as you are sensible about it and don't hold up everyone else.

Geez you guys talk a lot of sh1t in here. Did you get home alright Brian.

Yeah got home alright thanks tony didn't get as bad as what it was engine is stripped down ATM lol do new coil packs this week and get covers painted:)

Ah ok, my mate begged and pleaded to come out on the track but in his hella hectic flush wanker celica that's as slow as my diahatsu it definitely would of held everyone up

The celica with the hella locked diff? Slow cars aren't a problem as long as they stick right out of the way on the straights.

Haha yep the silver celica with tons of camber. He owns that cammed up ls1 in a silvia... If he can behave himself ill invite him out for the next one

When I'm at QR I drive fast. I don't pay $50 to cruise around at 60...I can do that in Toowoomba :) And when ya have 20 people driving fast there's bound to be overtaking and people a couple a breast at some stage. That's what we go to QR for....to let of some steam and have some fun.

There's nothing stupid about it.

Now harden the F up. Argh!

And for the record Chris, the most dangerous part of a happy laps session is the driving through tooowoomba part ;)

Pfft the dangerous part is having your battery fall out :P

As far as the laps were concerned I never felt endangered at any point, I braked long before the corners so I new I wasn't going to plough into people and i Kents the sideways action to a minimum and new where everyone was around me... Great fun :)

Yeh lol I still reckon you're lucky it didn't all come undone and need a tow back in :P

Yeh same here - like I said, it was the best happy laps ever! The last one I spun out at....and at the top gear sprints I pushed her too hard too, but this time round things were freaking awesome. Couple fast laps....couple normal ones....keen for the next 1

Last hap lap I did Martin shot past me at 175 whilst I was in my wagon.

Bit of common sense prevails on these things. I may bring the 31 out to one at some point but once the 32 is complete it won't be going anywhere near a racetrack. So there are two of us that feel that way.

Already in. Just as long as I'm not interstate or Nat gives birth early...

My bro and I would probably be up for it Chris....

Gents, I've been to Kingston - those carts are pretty decent and it's all outdoors...plus, you get to upgrade to their really fast carts (twin motor) if you run good enough times.

So much awesome.

BTW Chris, you missed out on a farkin very happy, happy laps :) It made me quite happy indeed lol...if you don't come to the next one you'll be dead to me. :)

It was a three thumbs up Happy Laps.

Come down next time and you can ride shot gun. Or steer, if I'm feeling generous.

As long at his 4wd dosent kick in he'll be fine lol

I hate it when that happens.... Or when you compression lock 2nd.

Pfft the dangerous part is having your battery fall out :P

BOOM! Self ownage!

    • It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about. Reliability of everything in a 34 drops MASSIVELY above the 300kw mark. Keeping everything going great at beyond that value will cost ten times the $. Clutches become shit, gearboxes (and engines/bottom ends) become consumable, traction becomes crap. The good news is looking legalish/actually being legal is slighly under the 300kw mark. I would make the assumption you want to ditch the stock plenum too and want to go a front facing unit of some description due to the cross flow. Do the bends on a return flow hurt? Not really. A couple of bends do make a difference but not nearly as much in a forced induction situation. Add 1psi of boost to overcome it. Nobody has ever gone and done a track session monitoring IAT then done a different session on a different intercooler and monitored IAT to see the difference here. All of the benefits here are likely in the "My engine is a forged consumable that I drive once a year because it needs a rebuild every year which takes 9 months of the year to complete" territory. It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about with this car.
    • By "reverse flow", do you mean "return flow"? Being the IC having a return pipe back behind the bumper reo, or similar? If so... I am currently making ~250 rwkW on a Neo at ~17-18 psi. With a return flow. There's nothing to indicate that it is costing me a lot of power at this level, and I would be surprised if I could not push it harder. True, I have not measured pressure drop across it or IAT changes, but the car does not seem upset about it in any way. I won't be bothering to look into it unless it starts giving trouble or doesn't respond to boost increases when I next put it on the dyno. FWIW, it was tuned with the boost controller off, so achieving ~15-16 psi on the wastegate spring alone, and it is noticeably quicker with the boost controller on and yielding a couple of extra pounds. Hence why I think it is doing OK. So, no, I would not arbitrarily say that return flows are restrictive. Yes, they are certainly restrictive if you're aiming for higher power levels. But I also think that the happy place for a street car is <300 rwkW anyway, so I'm not going to be aiming for power levels that would require me to change the inlet pipework. My car looks very stock, even though everything is different. The turbo and inlet pipes all look stock and run in the stock locations, The airbox looks stock (apart from the inlet being opened up). The turbo looks stock, because it's in the stock location, is the stock housings and can't really be seen anyway. It makes enough power to be good to drive, but won't raise eyebrows if I ever f**k up enough for the cops to lift the bonnet.
    • There is a guy who said he can weld me piping without having to cut chassis, maybe I do that ? Or do I just go reverse flow but isn’t reverse flow very limited once again?
    • I haven’t yet cut the chassis, maybe I switch to a reverse flow. I’ve got the Intercooler mounted as I already had it but not cut yet. Might have to speak to an engineer
    • Yes that’s another issue, I always have a front mount, plus will be turbo plus intake will big hasstle. I’ve been told if it looks stock they’re fine with it by a couple others who have done it ahahaha.    I know @Kinkstaah said the stock gtt airbox is limiting but I might just have to do that to avoid a defect so it atleast looks legit. Or an enclosed pod so it’s hidden away and feed air from the snorkel and below Intercooler holes like kinstaah mentioned. Hmm what to do
