hear we go, the head gasket in my car is less than 6 months old. and it started leaking coolant at rear of the motor by the firewall. so after further inspection i found out it's the damn head gasket. the retard that last replaced it did not put the outer 3 water jacket bolts in. so i put some bolts in it and it just slowed the leak down but it is still leaking. The car does not smoke or have oil in the coolant so I'm guessing that only the outer part of the head gasket is messed up. so im getting ready to replace the head gasket and have a couple of questions.

1.) i have looked and i cant find a good write up on replacing the head gasket. i have never replaced a head gasket on a non American car. anyone seen one? be nice to have a link.

2.) there is good ARP head bolts in it now, can i reuse them or are they trash after being torqued once?

3.) what about a good place to buy a head gasket set? i will probably just stay OEM as the most boost the car will see is around 1.3 bar.

motor came out of a 99 Stagea and is in a r32 GTS-4. any tips, tricks or advice before i start would be appreciated.

find a copy of the RB engine manual, there are a few floating around the interpascals.

A Head Gasket is a head gasket, only pain in the arse part about the RB is getting the cam timing spot on after its all back together.

I doubt its leaking because of those 3 small auxiliary bolts on the side as when I bought mine it had none of them on and there was no leak, more likely its been incorrectly installed or torqued especially if there ARP studs you got to do it right or else they will lose tension.

As for changing it just take it slow and yes it is like any other car just check the head and block to see if it is within range for straightness and also make sure you clean the surface very well not leaving any of the old gasket on. If you dont cut any corners and do everything properly there should be no reason to have a leak again.

    • Yeah agreed, you can't assume that shop are they only people who ever had to work on it. It was just a guess on the mods based on how things were done back then. You can check the Air Flow Meters by the part number on their tags, they are likely either Z32 or Nismo ones (both read about the same but the Z32 one is a little larger while nismo is stock size but supports the higher airflow like a Z32). And yes, all that would get you to 450hp / 340kw To tell what is happening with the turbos, you want a photo of the tag on the core, that will say what it was made out of  (they can retain the front and rear covers to make the plumbing easier)  
    • I'm selling my personal race car. 1992 BNR32 Skyline GT-R About eight years ago the engine developed the dreaded low oil pressure problem. I removed it and found the issue. However shortly after I moved half way across the country, moved my work shop, bought a house, got married, then moved my shop again to it's permanent location for the time being. in turn I do not have the time to race this car as it should be. In turn the engine I built for this car will end up in my street car and this car I hope finds a home with someone who can use it to it's full potential.     • So...to my (and my mechanics doing the swap) surprise...the oil pan from NEO engine does not fit 100% and needs to by modified like this: It is not a huge problem but in the future i want a "proper" oil pan. So question is...what different oil pan can i get to fit without any problems and modification? Thanks!
