Hi All,

I've been trying to sell my Yellow Stagea RS-Four for the last six weeks and haven't had a single nibble.

http://www.carsales.com.au/used-cars/private/NISSAN/STAGEA/details.aspx?R=10414341&keywords=bf-22-sv&__Ntk=CarAll&State=Victoria&__Nne=20&__Dx=mode%20matchany&__D=bf-22-sv&silo=1003&seot=1&__sid=12FC7783E8E4&state_id=82&__N=82%201216%20834%20285%20257&__Ns=pCar_PrivateSpecialFlag_Int32%7c1%7c%7cpCar_ImageCount_Int32%7c1%7c%7cpCar_LastModifiedDate_DateTime%7c1&__Ntx=mode%20matchallpartial&distance=25&Cr=0&__Ntt=bf-22-sv&trecs=1

Is it overrpiced? I wouldn't have thought the colour is THAT bad? I paid $22K for it in mid-2008 when we imported from Japan and it has been a fantastic car - people still ask me if it is a 'new model'. Does anyone know of any used car or import dealers around Melbourne who trade-in Stagea's? Any other sale options I could investigate?

thats a good price i think, with tasteful minor mods. you should get some interest eventually. is it advertised in the forsale (whole car) section? maybe throw it on afew other sites and classifeds and see how you go. if not might be worth selling some goodies like the exhuast, FMIC and the nistune seperatly and trading it. best of luck

Thanks RS4-S,

i have currently just got it listed in the SAU whole cars section and on carsales.com. Really wouldn't have the time to strip it back to stock and sell off parts. I guess we'll just wait and see what happens with a private sale (dealers would probably just offer an insulting price if they didn decide to trade anyway!)

Cheers

well as far as trade ins go you'll get a shocking price for it. i had an 07 T30 X-trail STS-Xtreme that was i paid 29k (32k with no options retail) for nissan employee price and had it for 4 years and put 95k on the clock and about 10k worth of suspension, exhaust, engine mods and stereo, thing was immaculate and had service history of every 5k service and got offered on average about 13k for it and the lowest i got offered was 9k. i ended up getting offered 18k but pulled my subs and amps out. i would have sold it privately but i found the stagea and made an offer so it had to go asap. its now sitting on a used car lot with 24.990 on it and they removed my $800 alpine headunit and replaced it with a $120 alpine unit, idiots.

i wouldnt trade it unless your that urgent to get rid of it

yeh i dont think they are going to be beating down your door.

mine has been for sale for about 3 months at 16.5, then 15.5.....it's got more mods, i'ts manual, and it's a nicer colour (sorry). i've not had a single person come look at the car.

i don't really care, because i love the car and know that the price i'd have to drop it to for a sale would not get me a satisfactory replacement....

but my point is, 6 weeks is nothing. for a car like this, i'd expect it to take 6 months to sell. it's all about waiting for the right buyer with the right money.

hang in there, and if you can't tough it out, sell it and chalk it up to the experience of owning an unusual car that only appeals to a niche market.

I love the colour but I'm a bit biased.

What sucks is that we are both trying to sell Yellow RS4-S Stageas in Melbourne at the same time... rare as hell when you're trying to buy, heaps of them when you're trying to sell!

Good luck with it.

Rule of thumb when buying a car is don't buy a 'hero' colour.

who want's to buy a Tiger Mica or Hot House Green commodore?? Same thing for the VEII yellow's that are out now.....stick to your whites/blacks/silvers and you will protect your resale.

in terms of constructive help - The only other thing I can suggest if you’re not willing to drop your price, is to try and increase your exposure. Get a for sale sticker for the back window, put a printed sheet inside the window detailing the car – km’s, rego, etc – give people a bit of info to make them want to call your mobile. Make sure the car is always well groomed so that it appears immaculately looked after whenever people happen see it – a bit of tyre shine and some quick detail spray goes a long way. Park it in a highly visible area during the day so you get some traffic going past it. Get the car up on firesport.com, nissansilvia.com, jdmst, make sure it’s nominated as a ‘unique car’ on carsales.com so that it goes onto uniquecarsales.com.

    • Well the install is officially done. Filled with fluid and bled it today, but didn't get a chance to take it on a test drive. I'll throw some final pics of the lines and whatnot but you can definitely install a DMAX rack in an R33 with pretty minor mods. I think the only other thing I had to do that isn't documented here is grind a bit of the larger banjo fitting to get it to clear since the banjos are grouped much tighter on the DMAX rack. Also the dust boots from a R33 do not fit either fyi, so if you end up doing this install for whatever reason you'll need to grab those too. One caveat with buying the S15 dust boots however is that the clamps are too small to fit on the R33 inner tie rod since they're much thicker so keep the old clamps around. The boots also twist a bit when adjusting toe but it's not a big deal. No issues or leaks so far, steering feels good and it looks like there's a bit more lock now than I had before. Getting an alignment on Saturday so I'll see how it feels then but seems like it'll be good to go
    • I don't get in here much anymore but I can help you with this.   The hole is a vent (air relief) for the brake proportioning valve, which is built into the master cylinder.    The bad news is that if brake fluid is leaking from that hole then it's getting past the proportioning valve seals.   The really bad news is that no spare parts are available for the proportioning valve either from Nissan or after market.     It's a bit of a PITA getting the proportioning valve out of the master cylinder body anyway but, fortunately, leaks from that area are rare in my experience. BTW, if those are copper (as such) brake lines you should get rid of them.    Bundy (steel) tube is a far better choice (and legal  in Australia - if that's where you are).
    • EMU Classic. For what I need it to do I see no reason to upgrade. Link and Haltech would both cost an extra chunk of money for a lot of unutilized features
