Hey guys, just wondering can you wax your car straight away after polishing? or is there a time period you have to wait after polishing?

In short, yes you can.

In long, I like to polish then us an IPA 50/50mix with water wipe down to get rid of any residue, then follow up with a synthetic sealant topped with a wax for that extra depth.

Regards,

Mitch

Yes you can, just don't wax then polish. Although if you dont polish you wont remove any swirls or fine scratches you may have on the surface.

Correct,

I would suggest you give your car a wash, claybar, and wash again then apply a decent wax.

You only need to clay bar 6 monthly at worst but most likely yearly.

These are what I would use on a budget.

Clay Bar Kit

Wax

Wash Shampoo

Mitch

Clay bar does wonders. After a polish the water just beads. It makes me laugh when it rains and the 33 is the only car beading 99% the time. Theres alot of lazy kunts that dont clean their cars :P

LOL! I just spent 5 hours on my 33! haha i didn't use a clay bar I used paint cleaner instead.. and mannnn does it look good.. The rain just rolled right off it today :P

Hi,

Is it necessary to dry the car then use the clay bar? Or would it be o.k to just spray the lubricant while the car was wet and use the clay bar?

Do you mean you clay bar after a polish?

Paint cleanser and a clay bar are VERY different a clay bar will remove all the iron particles, industrial fall out, and other contaminants where as a paint cleanser wont.

A paint cleanser will help prepare the paint for a wax or sealant helping remove oils that will hinder the wax or sealant from adhering.

Just as an FYI.

Ps check out my site the 1964 Cadillac had approx 25 hours machine polishing alone not including any thing else! www.immaculatereflections.com.au

A clay bar removes contaminants and industrial fall out from your paint, it wont remove marks or scratches. Polishing is what removes that.

My other thread may help you http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/369354-detailing-and-car-care-de-coded/

The clay bar also requires constant kneading so that the pollutants and particulate matter don't stay between the clay bar and paint...

> otherwise more scratches can be generated.

> whilst it's necessary, a lubricant can't do it all.

I would say folding as opposed to kneading just so it doesnt confuse people. You want to fold it over so the part you were previously using is now in the middle of your "pancake shape" clay.

    • The fancy pants red shock tower brace is finally incoming from MX5 Mania, getting it shipped from 'Merica has been a long and problematic process, and GWR, the 'Merican supplier will not ship directly to consumers outside of the US, Mania basically had to order a heap of them, the colour choice was silver, or red, and we all know anything red adds 5 killerwasps of dynotorques..... Whilst it does fit over a 2.5, and I've seen a few photos and videos of it being installed and fitting, google also says it might get real close to the FAB9 intake front runner, people in the US says it does fit with the FAB9 intake, except for one person who said it slightly touched.......so there is that.....LOL..... As it seems that I am the first in AU to have this combination of parts there's no local knowledge about fitment, so I'm just a willing guinea pig in this endeavour, I'll cross my fingers and toes and hope for the best In other news, I ordered stuff from China  on the same day I ordered the 23° silicone bend from Victoria, the stuff from China arrived a day ago, the 23° silicone bend is still travelling around Australia thanks to Australia Post, and "may" be here next week
    • Very good news...I contacted Racebox about it last night. My car is a 2016 so remains to be seen if it is compatible, requires a TCU swap, or is impossible.
    • What ECU are you running? This is probably the biggest question. If it's a PowerFC, I'd probably change the ECU and get something newer that will handle the injectors in a nicer way.
