Good evening all, will introduce myself properly shortly, wanted to ask your advice on something first.

Recently bought an r34 25gt fresh import. Its officially rego'd and on the road as of a few weeks ago and I couldn't be happier with the car itself, but the half working, japanese reading heat unit is starting to get to me.

I'm a) lazy and b) not great with electronics so was thinking a cheapish solution would be a combination of the following (head unit used as example):

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NISSAN-CAR-STEREO-ISO-WIRING-HARNESS-PLUG-CONNECTOR-2-/250750991968?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a61ec7e60

http://www.soundmaster.com.au/Kenwood-DPX-U6120-CD-MP3-USB-ipod-Control-Double-Din-Player/DPXU6120.asp

Basically a head unit with features that I want that is not too expensive & a Nissan 1995+ -> ISO harness & ISO -> Kenwood harness. All up including shipping it will be $329

Is there anything that I'm missing?

Will it simply be follow the guide on here to remove all the interior and fascia, unbolt and clip old head unit, clip on harness #1, clip on harness #2, plug in new head unit, replace interior and drive away? Seems too easy...

Cheers.

Used one of those harnesses on a VS Commodore wagon yesterday, it was perfect. Can't comment on the Skyline as I've never done one, but provided those are the correct plugs and you aren't getting a massively complex head unit, yeah it is that simple.

Hi

Pretty sure that the R34 uses the later harness

Nissan Harness

Its been a while but I am sure that you are going to need the diversity antenaa adaptor as well.

Nissan Antenna

And the kenwood harness

Kenwood

You should be good with those three parts

Simon

    • Because sometimes I do dumb shit and because I kept thinking about 6.6kWh worth of PVs wouldn't be fully enough if I'm consuming during the day as well as charging. So I did a thing, added another 5kW of PVs lol. Since there's a spare MPPT port, why the fk not?

    • The alloy coolant reservoir has a sight glass, so as long as I can see coolant in the sight glass it's GTG, as for PS, it isn't anything catastrophic if it gets low, and as it hasn't lost a drop since I have owned the car I cannot see it being an issue, even after putting the "big block" 2.5 in....LOL The only time it gets slightly messy is at oil changes, as the oil filter sits above the frame, and I need to use a plastic bottle with its bottom cut off to catch the flow when loosening the filter
