Anyone Here In Vic Have Big Brakes On Their R33 Gtr?

Recommended Posts

I am looking to buy some big brakes for my R33 GTR, but first need to know if they are going to fit over my wheels (18x10.5 Wedsport SA90's, not sure on the offset)

If anyone here in VIC has AP Racing brakes, 6 piston with 355mm rotor can you please let me know if you are willing to let me trial fit one wheel on your car?

I dont mind travelling.

Cheers :)

mate pm xrotor

he has ap's on his 33. he had work or weds (not sure) but they didnt fit.

355 won't be a problem with those wheels. I have the same ones (so im assuming you own a purple R33 as well? Leewahs old car?).

I have a 356 D2 kit waiting to go on for testing in the next month or so and from the initial look they were going to be fine.

Yep, thats me, I own Daves old car (Leewah). I bought it earlier this year at a price that couldnt be refused :)

Do you have AP Racing brakes on your car now?

Actually i'll be @ Racepace Tues or Wed, and my wheels are there. I'll chuck them onto a car with brakes (always one there) and let you know.

You sure that you have the same wheels in the same offset as me?

I have been told that the ones I have are one of the only sets in the country.

If they are the same, then that would be awesome :)

18x10.5 - i can assure you they are the same as Aaron & I were looking for another set for the better part of 8 months.

I don't have the D2s on yet, but there is always one GTR with a 356mm kit @ Racepace so it won't be a problem.

Will let you know. Probably gonna be Wed as im a bit crook atm.

Dont have a lot of clearance with the standard Brembos. Maybe 15mm??

I dont like your chances then, still worth a try  Only one way to know for sure :D

Alternative is spacers, but spacers on a GTR :s?

15mm? :ermm:

What offset are yours?

Been a while since I've looked @ mine but we were almost positive it would be all fine when we were looking a couple months ago as intent was always to upgrade brakes etc.

It's not the end of the world if they don't, plenty of wheel choices out there that will accommodate for bigger brakes. I'd rather have the braking performance at the sacrifice of having 'wheels that make the car'.....

Just my 2c.....

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
