well i know jack diddly squat about diff ratios but seeing as you arent running an N/A engine, you arent going to want N/A diff ratios. and would benefit from some form of LSD. will cost f**kall to source a second hand turbo diff. get that shit changed over asap!

thanks for the heads up any help advice appreciated..... this is a work in progress, luckily its all stock but I will look into the diff and brakes ASAP,

p.s is there a brand of diff, does it have to be from R33 or from Skyline or can it be from silvias? (newbie)

just look for any R33 GTS25T Diff.

series 1 or 2 wont matter.

they produced 217,000 R33s of which only 19,000 were GTRs.

wont be hard to source one.

good luck

hey, still looking, but got a dyno, all stock running 5psi thru the ecu (no turbo timer or boost gauge) only mods are FMIC, K & N filter, 3inch exhaust and cat.

I got a basic 134rwkw on stock 5psi dyno run on AUTOMATIC transmission.

have been told with another dyno tune and change the ecu settings to 10/11 psi and should get an extra 30rwkw without any mods or changes to the car.

is that normal?

with a full exhaust, front mount intercooler and the boost wound up to 10 or 11 psi you should get 170 to 180kw without needing to touch the ecu.

Okay that might be what they meant, they just said dyno + up the boost to max 10/11 and would get at least 30rwkw without changing anything else. PS its all new to me mate, BUT is the current 134rwkw normal and okay for stock 5psi standard RB25DET?

Sounds normal (not that i would know what 5psi makes). With 10/11 psi just like mad said it should make 170-180kw.

But automatic turbo 33s run 9psi standard AFAIK so i dont know why its set to only 5. hmm?

Hi, well i was sure that is the number i was told by the mechanic who did the check over of my car and the dyno, but either way i got dyno print out at 134rwkw and was told i could get 170rwkw just by upping the boost to 10/11 PSI,

my question is, is that safe and reliable to be running 10/11 psi as standard with all standard engine components except the FMIC and K&N, theres no work done to the motor all stock rb25det, IS IT SAFE to have the turbo set at 10/11 and use it like that as a daily driver for say 12months or more without needing to change anything, I am unsure?

10/11 will be fine.

if i was you i would just up it to ten and leave it at that seeing as you still have n/a gear and arent chasing power anyway.ten will do fine for daily :)

i ran 1 bar of boost through my first skyline for 6 months but that is not safe, cheap or good for the turbo lol and in answer to whether it blew up we shall never know cause my best mate wrote it off. i just know better now.

Thanks, I will definitely look into it soon,

so 10 PSI will mean it sits at 10psi when it boosts, and what should i get in rwkw as its now at the 134, I am hoping to get at least 165rwkw by doing this~! and true i am not after mad power maybe max 200rwkw for the present.

what exactly do they do, the mechanic says they have to do a dyno and change the boost etc to make the car run at 10/11psi rather than the current PSI and should get around 30rwkw?? for about $200 job

no, they only run or 6psi. they run less boost than the manuals, which is why they also have a lower quoted standard power (180kw vs 184kw)

just make sure you have a turbo back exhaust.

you could buy and install the boost controller yourself (just get one of the $30 turbotech ones off ebay, they work very well). just make sure you have an aftermarket boost gauge. then if you want to know what power it's making then you can just get a power run done and save yourself about $100

no i dont believe that. i want further proof of this fact.

and yeah he has 3 inch catback

just double checked... 3inch all the way from the turbo back and 3inch hi flo cat. :) and FMIC.

so should go alright with the boos up to 10/11 psi?>>>

can provide links to the lower spec power if you want as well.

yep, wind the boost up and away you go.

    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
    • BTW I measured the jack I have, it is 70mm at the saddle but you only have about 700 until it returns to 150mm high at the cylinder so it is good but no magic bullet.
    • My experience with Rising Sun Exports Before agreeing to the sale I tried to do as much research as I could (obviously), his Facebook reviews are 98% and he goes Live at least once or twice a week. I contacted 2 people in the UK who had used him for their imports, both had positive feedback. His explanation and talk through of the import process was thorough, answering any query no matter how stupid it was. It felt as soon as the money was sent, communication dropped off. I asked for shipping updates every 2 weeks or so, not wanting to pester him, he never had any updates. I wasn't informed the car had been dropped off at the port, I only found out by his Facebook story. I asked for the photos taken at the port, knowing he would need some for insurance purposes. I received a few 5 second clips and that's it. When asked again, he said his staff had them. Weeks later I asked again, he tells me he doesn't have any, but does have 50 photos from the original advert. I never received them. I eventually got the documents sent via WhatsApp after I mentioned the port was requesting them. I purchased a CarVX report, to find out the vehicle is a Grade R with recorded accident damage, first recorded in 2017 when it was first auctioned. He never told me the grade, then again I didn't ask. His response was "Grade R means nothing, it wasn't chassis damage". Still, I would have liked to have been informed about it. Jon prides himself on being open and honest when it comes to inspecting cars, it's his main job doing so at the auctions for customers. When the vehicle arrived in the UK I noticed a few little cosmetic issues. It's a 21 year old car so it wasn't going to be mint condition. The side skirts are cracked on each corner and the sealant is failing. The front grill on the bonnet/hood isn't secured very well, mounting studs are missing. Both minor things, but again, it would have been nice to be told. During a Facebook Live walk around video of the vehicle, he mentioned it has a front Whiteline anti roll bar/sway bar. While on the inspection ramp, I noticed the stock item has been installed. When first questioned, his response was "the ARB? Switched? Since when, it never had them". Since sending video and photo evidence I've not received a response. I'm probably being over critical of the overall condition of an old car, but all I wanted was honesty (which he claims to have). I'm aware I wasn't his only customer, he's busy doing XYZ but other reviews praise him for great communication with regular updates and photos, I felt I didn't receive the same treatment.
