Hey guys, so i purchased a tail light smoked kit off ebay using a film, got it on Friday tried it on today, after about 15min or blind rage throwing shit around and the film bubbling creading and everything else that it can do to make you mad i just threw it in the bin and called my local tint shot in search of a pro. After speaking to the pros about the tint i was told that film on the lights will last about 3 months and it will start to bubble and look bad and recommended that i use spray tint. off in search of spray tint i went. Local bunnings was a no go so was supercheap auto ended up in repco and i got the last can for around $26.

To do the spray you have to

1. take the lights out of the car (2 pressure clips and 3 bolts each light)

2. then remove the plastic that is around 1 side of the light that the boot closes on. (2 screws and some clips).

3. then clean with soapy water and you are ready to spray.

4. When spraying i did 1 coat that was not to thick sprayed from around 40cm back it came out really dark could have been a little lighter then it was.

so the pics below are before and after shots and some of the lights on the ground. Over all im 100% happy with them they look really good on the silver car, im not going to do head lights as you need to use them to c >_<

If anyone wants any info on it please let me know happy to help, ill try to get a pic of the can that i used also but if you ask for spray tint at repco they should be able to help you out.

Looks good, but you will never get it off and have the lights look any good again I am sorry to say. And they are defectable, so if you have Nazi cops in your neighbourhood expect the first one that sees them to defect you.

That said, I have tint on mine that I bought off USA Ebay for about $40 - I put it on for a car show with the intention of taking it straight off (as I didn't want to get defected), but after running around with it on for a few weeks (before I had time to take the tint off), and not having one cop even look twice, I left it on. Mine has been on for nearly 2 years now and still looks like new.

From that picture my lights are no darker then yours, the photos i took are when it is near dusk so there is not alot of light on them. There are some removers that can take it of a few youtube videos on it, well i guess all i can do is see how it goes, I love the look of them anyways so im happy

love the carbon bars on your V to looks great

Yeah I think the tint looks awesome too. Was just pointing out that it is very illegal, in case you didn't know. Word is that if someone rear ends you (or me) the insurance company may not pay out, as the person could claim they couldn't see the brake lights due to the illegal tint. Scary thought.

Yeah I am liking the carbon bar (I did the front bar and side skirts too), but it is a 10 foot car - it is great from 10 foot +, but ordinary from any closer :) ... it was my first go at putting on wrap and I did a pretty shitty job of it - it is all coming off and I will redo it. I might do the whole car yet for something different. It is a BIG job to do, but I learnt a lot from the 1st attempt and it will be much easier the 2nd time around.

Brought the film all the way back from China and tried it on straight away when I got back to Australia, lol. Was a pain to put it on as it was my first time doing the films, liked the matt black but yours definitely look better!

By the way, had a few times where cop is just right behind me and never got stop.

Only once when they flashed me because I forgot to turn on my lights, lol, but no stop.

I just washed my car and dam does it look sxy, the lights are glossy they shine in the sun, they are still red and you can see through them during the day, so i should not have to many issues with the law, i only did 1 coat for this reason :D

looks good , althou the trick is to take the lense's apart and spray the inside to retain a nice glossy finish

Good in theory, unfortunately doesn't work in practice unless the inside of the cover/lense is as flat as the outside. Spray tint tends to collect in the valleys of the lenses making the coat darker in spots and giving an uneven finish. Spray tint on the outside with a good 2 pak clear to make it glossy FTW.

looking good there tank

Would you have any pictures in sunlight the way they are now?

Currently looking at doing a light tint on mine, and if you say its a slightly darker red then it would be a good investment of 26$. Especially seeing as the cops in victoria are a bit trigger happy when pulling people over (having said that though, I've not been pulled over once by cops *knocks on wood*)

How long did it take you to do it all yourself?

except that wont darken it very much.

also i found using radio control car shell tiny spray was just as good (probably the same stuff) but was a hell of a lot cheaper

Thats quite interesting, i thought that $26 for a full size can of the spray was decent i only did 1 coat and used about 1/4 of the can if that, you could probable to another 3-4 sets of lights with whats left, my m8t has already dibsed some for the lights on his new evo when he gets it lol

    • Or, is it a case of what it is like owning an R series Skyline? NFI what the previous owner has done or fiddled with... Ha ha ha After reading through this thread, I went on a bit of a research about the Q50/Q60. Now I'm quite intrigued by them! Is the AWD in them more like a WRX where it's always AWD, or is it more like the ATTESSA in the GTRs? By the sound of this TCU tuning, this sounds like a case of someone has made some real software for it, and you just need the right piece of hardware, and then you license that specific vehicle/TCU. Or is this a case of the software will be really expensive so only a few tuners have it, and you still have to pay a license per vehicle?
    • By popular demand.. it was a coil. Got my hands on 1 new OEM coil, replaced with the one that made the less noise difference when I unplugged it while the car was running and started the car up. No stutter and the engine light was gone. I guess I’ll buy the other 5 they have lol
    • No, code 21 is very straightforward. It can only be the things described in that diagnostic flow. In fact it has no way of knowing that the spark plug resistance is out of spec.
    • Hi, SteveL Thank you very much for your reply, you seem to be the only person on the net who has come up with a definitive answer for which I am grateful. The "Leak" was more by way of wet bubbles when the pedal was depressed hard by a buddy while trying to gey a decent pedal when bleeding the system having fitted the rebuilt BM50 back in the car, which now makes perfect sense. A bit of a shame having just rebuilt my BM50, I did not touch the proportioning valve side of things, the BM50 was leaking from the primary piston seal and fluid was running down the the Brake booster hence the need to rebuild, I had never noticed any fluid leaking from that hole previously it only started when I refitted it to the car. The brake lines in the photo are "Kunifer" which is a Copper/Nickel alloy brake pipe, but are only the ones I use to bench bleed Master cylinders, they are perfectly legal to use on vehicles here in the UK, however the lines on the car are PVF coated steel. Thanks again for clearing this up for me, a purchase of a new BMC appears to be on the cards, I have been looking at various options in case my BM50 was not repairable and have looked at the HFM BM57 which I understand is manufactured in Australia.
