Well seeing as I am now in the actual part of building the car... after the basic stuff... I thought I would put her in this build up.

It is a 1995 MNP R33 GTR Vspec.

I originally bought the car at 67,000kms..

I started out with a fairly basic starting point for a GTR.

I first started with the fuel reg and put a new boost controller in, then a clutch and new set of rims..

I had to replace the AVS Model 5s due to the previous owner destroying them.

At the end of 2010 I put the car up for sale with sales falling through I decided to keep the car and mod it further....

I added a power fc and tune to start... I made 305Awhp

Shortly after that the want for more power kicked in.

I then went and saw my first mechanics and got the following installed.

2860r-5 turbos

Tomei dumps

Nismo Fuel Pump

Nismo 600cc Injectors

HKS Hard piping

Cooling pro 600x300x100 intercooler

As I wasn't happy with the tune, I went and saw my good friends at EFI

With just a retune on the same psi it pull 437rwhp

After seeing the results I was very happy, however was shocked when Sean asked if I wanted to up the boost.. My response was sure if you think its safe go nuts.

The car drove excellent, and was still getting good economy as at this point the car was my daily...

Shortly after the power being upped my clutch was not up to the job so that had to be replaced.

So I ordered a NPC Big Mouth Track after consulting with a couple mates.

Sadly a week after getting the clutch died, power surged the power fc and killed it due to a AFM arching out onto the power fluid reservoir.

So a new brain was needed.

After going over all the facts and figures I decided to go with a Wolf V500.

Since I wanted a little more mid-range Sean tuned it to the following.

mate do you have any more info on why the 2 tunes were so extremely different?

i have heard really good things about both mercury and EFI.

how did the mercury tune drive compared to the EFI?

Yeah, Naturally I do not know a whole much about it, not VERY mechanical minded but I do know its Different to the V-Cam set up.

Mercury have done their dash with me, I wont be going back HOWEVER. I have known cars to get good results.

Sean from EFI is my ONLY tuner from now on tho for obvious reasons.

I have only ever heard of mercury doing good work. I am looking to use them in the near future could you please pm me your result with mercury as I need to know whether to use them or not

I am fan number one #1 I will continue to support the number one tuner/mechanical in SEQ IMO.

Do I have to tell you to stop trolling as well? LOL... mind you a LS AWD GTR would be AWESOME! Balls and grip pitty the bonnets won't clear much like the 32s with a ls1 will clear the cross member.

So far the plans are to stay as are however Dan's hunch may be to forced to go stroker due to the oil issues.

PPS - are you going to do some track days with the new engine? Might wanna do brakes too - Ksport 356mm 8pot brake kit is under $2k from UK with EBC Blue pads and they work a bloody treat!!! You know you wanna do it :)

    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off. 
    • I checked spark on all cylinders and they all visually have spark with the plug pulled and grounded, but plug 1 is the only one that fouled. This was a running swap that blew up and was rebuilt by a machine shop, put a new wiring specialties harness and did all gaskets, studs, and bolts while it was out.  compression is 135-150 across all cylinders. Aside from that from my understanding with the z32 ecu and maf the car should start regardless. The wiring for TPS and the dual 02 sensor/ dual knock sensor stuff shouldn’t actually stop the car from starting or even running well, (just slightly rich)  they just give fault codes. Car supposedly is supposed to start as long as you have z32 afm and ecu with the nistune base map and that’s info coming from a well known and trusted tuner who does a lot with SR/RB (Rsenthalpy). After more trouble shooting today where I’m at right now is that the cas is sending signal to the injectors they click while spinning the rotor, Fuel pressure is now set at 43psi, all cylinders have good compression and all of the plugs looked great (just wet with fuel) except for cylinder 1 which was very black (cylinder 1 has 150psi compression). all of the coils generate spark if pulled out and grounded out on the head. On the fuel pump car just pops into the exhaust. On starting fluid car will fire off. Hard to tell if all cylinders are firing off but definitley a couple. sounds like all of them but it’s only for 3-5 seconds hard to tell. 
    • Final update!!! Got the front bar fitted and sprayed and all sorted now. My cutouts worked great and the indicators aren’t just falling off. 😂  
    • Is this a brand new LSD? if so, have you followed any break/bed in procedure for it? Usually involves heaps of figure 8 patterns, a fluid flush.
