Recently mangled the lower two lips - the diffuser and the part it's attached to between the diffuser and bar. Need new or second hand (in reasonable condition).

Surely some of the z-tune front bar converts can help me out with their leftovers.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hey mate,

Carmate sell the splitter and lip together for a little under $500... There are quite a few places that make oem Copys of the splitter, I'm picking one up this week, I can let you know if they are any good...

Chasing genuine oem ones I'm guessing will be long winded and expensive. There was a White one on eBay last week from a place called Fuji something?.,,

Just a thought.

Cheers,

Anthony

Bought a Carmate one for my 1st R34 GT-R. It was a perfect fit, and having the F/G splitter for 4.5 yrs, it had no splits or cracks after the occasional rub with something.

I did do a test fit 1st tho'

Here is the front spoiler and lip that Terry is talking about on our previous R34 GT-R. Couldn't fault it. As long as you take care going over driveways and dips not to damage it, the fibreglass should be a good enough substitute given the coin outlay.

Thanks for the comments.

I have been looking around. There is a carbon one from Knight Racer in the UK for $850-$900 thanks to the Aussie dollar. That one is also the middle lip and the diffuser together. But can't be sure of quality. Apparently carbon skin and skeleton, no fibreglass according to the website.

Terry and Matt, the fitment looks pretty good. Thanks Matt for PMing me earlier.

Let me know how the fitment of the Mu Secret one goes Anthony. Very interested.

Import monster has a new oem one, but is pricey.

A friend of mine bought the lower lip from JSAI at Tarren Point and for a replica its rather good. Bolted straight up into the factory holes and looked fairly good too. Price was very good also at $280 from memory.

Only downfall is that the lip doesnt come all the way across under the car and tunnel towards the gearbox as a genuine one does but for the price you pay it looks the part from the outside and his its still holding up

Hey mate,

Got the Mu Secret one friday afternoon, found out it is actually just a JSAI one... wasnt too happy with the finish to be honest, fittment wasnt to bad, had to force it in places to bolt it up etc.. and as the above post says it doesnt go under the car very far at all. It does look the part and is cheap tho.

Can provide you with more info if your interested, just let me know.

Just to coment on the finish. They only come with a base coat when you recieve them. Abit of wet sanding, primer and trim black paint (was told this was the matching code from factory) and it comes out looking amazing! Only cost about $30 to DIY it so well worth it otherwise it just looks cheap and worn out

The benefit of the Kinght rager one is that it appears like it will butt up to the back half of the diffuser (i.e. it has the two prongs in the middle of the diffuser).

I think i'll go for that one or the carmate one they both look like they'll butt up to the existing engine cover. Anyone know roughly how much it would cost to spray the carmate one?

Probably go white for the middle spoler and black (satin or matte) for the diffuser.

My other issue is that the car is way too low. Looking at getting some new coilovers soon, so I might wait till they go on before I put the new lip on.

Looking at Ohlins Road and Track's because the aussie dollar is so strong against the € and £ now. Estimated around ~$3100-3200 for a set landed (not installed).

Mate if your from Sydney you might as well drive to Tarren Point JSAI. Carmate are exactly the same as the JSAI ones and you can actually pick them up on the spot as opposed to waiting for online delivery. They can also paint them for you for extra cost.

The diffuser colour as i stated earlier is Trim black and you can do it your self for about $30 its really fool proof and impossible to stuff up.

I need the middle lip and diffuser, which JSAI don't do. And from the comments above Mu Secret=JSAI. The carmate one seems to have the prongs that imply it should butt up to the sump cover.

Terry/Matt, did the carmate one join up with the sump cover (or you guys didn't have the sump cover because it was a non-V-spec).

Hey Nick,

Nope, didn't come with the sump cover from what I recall. Double check with them, but I'm pretty sure no - and yeah the GTR didn't have one stock as it wasn't a V.

    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
    • Well they got my money but they are not getting my gearbox !
    • It's needed for rolling idle up, and I think it is a decider on VCT also.
    • I mean, not really. Link ECU's can absolutely still have errors from the ECU thinking it's getting a sensor it's not expecting. I would imagine the speed at the ECU level in Nistune does absolutely nothing anyway? I assume the ECU does not do any fancy TC stuff with regards to front+rear wheel speed or anything of that like anyway. Someone who uses Nistune may be more fluent in it.
