Hi all,

Car: 2004 V35 Sedan

Audio: Non Bose with Nav

Head unit: The one with flappy door when you load a cd

Reason: Sound drops to one side (L or R) when I brake/accelerate (suspected dry solder joint in board) and my beatsonic ipod av cable is also failing so it is irritating me

After doing lots of research, I want to clarify one method that nobody ever mention in doing ddin conversion. If i go to g35driver, everybody will direct me to either buy a metra kit or some other more expensive kits. Knowing that the most expensive part of the kit is the A/C control, peeps kept referring to JDM a/c control (separate to audio finisher), since you require to swap out the a/c control as it is a part of the whole finisher board assembly (US spec AFAIK).

BUT 99% of V35's in Australia are JDM imports does that mean that our A/C control board is completely separate to the finisher board?? Remove the audio finisher without effecting a/c control??

My aim is to remove the current facia and get a pro to cut a double din size rectangular hole over so I can fit a 7" screen and also to save some money. Is this possible?

I guess if it's worth a shot it's worth to diy-it.

I was going to try this with one of my old dashs.

If I was you I would get the kit. The front panel for the AC is powered up from the radio. Unless you can cut a circuit board in half and then work out where to supply the AC circuit. Both the Audio and AC circuits are on the same board and its near impossible to seperate.

The factory AC controls are all integrated into the same single circuit board behind the facia. the double DIN AC controls only come with the double DIN facia units, either Metra kit of the Nissan kit.

I believe there is someone who has cut the factory board, but had to wire up a 'birds nest' of cables to get it working.

I believe the Metra kit is made in USA, but the Nissan kit is made in Japan, perhaps that is why the G35driver guys refer to it as a ‘JDM” unit.

The Metra kit is cheaper, but have heard the fit and colour are poor. I guess you may be able to save some $$ by getting your factory facia professionally cut and buy the Metra kit just to get the AC controls.

that unit I CAN fix. (it is the same unit internally as a 350 Z ) it is a PN2613. if you wanted to find a USDM one you are looking for a PN2615. if you wanted to replace the whole lot with another then you will need teh ENTIRE thing as 2001-2003 are different panels to yours.

now given yours is a 2004 the geniune 2DIN bits wil be the go if you want to do it. I can source them if you want or you can do your own homework and get them yourself.

Hi All, any help regarding DD conversion would be great at this point this is what I'm going with....

Metra 70-7550- Wiring harness? Or PAC ROEM-NIS2 - Not sure which one I need?

JDM DD Facia - http://www.ebay.com/...6ddc43f&vxp=mtr

and the Ca-Fi Dashlinq (Unless anyone can give me any other great alternatives??)

Nissan Antenna Adapter

Is there anything else I really need to do the conversion? I mean I intend to get Tonkins here in S.A to install it, but is there anything I've missed other than the wiring harness? the JDM unit comes with the A/C controller.

Let me know what you think, Also It's a 2003 v35

How can I tell if it's bose or not? or does the $40.00 harness do it anyway?

    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
    • BTW I measured the jack I have, it is 70mm at the saddle but you only have about 700 until it returns to 150mm high at the cylinder so it is good but no magic bullet.
