all on its way now :D was annoyed at AU pricing for SR3 as well even on 50% off sale (down to $45USD on steam, US was $25USD) so got that too.

just completed my first play through this morning.

pretty disappointed with the ending, especially seeing as this was the end of the trilogy.

i wont spoil it for you...but im quite disappointed

Apparently you have to play multiplayer to get the best ending.

thats bullsh*t. i dont want to buy more xbox live.

EDIT: looked into the whole have-to-play-multiplayer-for-ending-to-not-suck thing, but some say you just have to do ALL the side missions and go around to every single planet scanning and launching probes and even the, the best scenario is (Quote)"heart-wrenchingly depressing". f**k that.

just shattered that years of playing and waiting for the end has culminated to this

that was fast, short game or have you been playing non stop?

i just started it today, though i picked up my N7 edition on thursday i hadn't had a chance to play it. i was really looking forward to this game and so far, i'm up to the citadel first visit (~2hours in), the game has frozen twice. completely locking up my ps3, have to hold into the power button to get it to start up again, then the ps3 chucks the shits cause it wasn't turned of properly and wants to send of crash reports and check the file system for any corruption. i have been playing my ps3 for about 4 years now average 15-20hours a week, many different games, and have never had this happen. i do like the game/story enough to ignore the occasional dropped frame but the freezing is annoying.

i played the Kingdoms of Amular demo to get the bonus ME3 armour and weapon. The weapon you get, chakram launcher i think it was, is mad, it one shots the guys with riot shields. i'm playing through as an infiltrator, just cloak, step out of cover and line them up, drop them with the launcher then back into cover lol. i'm also loving how you start the game with plenty of upgrade points, makes it seem like your about the same level as you were in ME2. Do you get the option to redistribute points later in the game like you could with ME2?

game time right after final mission was 16h and 1 minute. Pretty much the same as my ME2 game files. I was mostly doing missions, i left out a few side missions and theres still tasks to do, and theres that whole explore and scan planets and stuff. I played as a solider, will plays as either an infiltrator or a adept next.

And yes, if you import an ME2 character you're at the level (s)he was at and you get his upgrade points. If you start a new one, i think they give you points based on where you "would" be up to if you had completed ME2. and yes you can redistribute points in the med bay on the normandy. First times free i think. i did it once and didnt have to pay.

Just hit 34 hours. On my final push through London. The hordes of Brutes, Banshees and Marauders at the missile batteries makes for some uh... Colourful language.

Missed a couple side missions when they went dark after the shit at the Citadel. Explored most planets. Ended up going for the end game with 3300 something EMS. Krogan, Turian, STG, Geth, and Quarian on board.

Next game I'll try for 4000 without touching multiplayer.

^^^let me know what you think of the ending. im still shocked

EDIT: i found this and lol'd at how applicable it is to me.

First reaction upon meeting kelly chambers was "f*ck yes! i get my fish back. cheers babe"

Edit: Here is a facebook group to "Retake Mass Effect"fans who demand a better ending in the last couple of hours its got 3k more likes, join up if you think the ending was crap.

Its so true, I made so many Mass Effect 2 characters with the plan of using them to see all of the different outcomes and endings of the various decisions only to find out that the choices dont even matter. Definetly not gonna do more playthroughs now.

Spoliers Below!!!

Even if you tell the quarians not to go to war with the Geth they still do

You kill the Rachni they still come back somehow and help the reapers

What the shit Bioware!?!?! although to be honest this has got EA's money grubbing hands written all over it. You need an online code to get the best ending another $20 for EA everytime someone else plays the game second hand. Want a decent ending? That'll be another $10-20 in DLC probably.

Bioware's game endings up until now (besides Dragon Age 2) have always been so good, KOTOR 1 and 2 were epic. The sense of satisfaction at the end of Mass Effect 1 and 2 was huge especially if you managed to keep your team alive. And now this it just doesnt fit Bioware's profile.

Since EA bought Bioware the games stories have been dodgy at best, Mass Effect 2 was still mostly developed while Bioware wasn't owned by EA, But Dragon Age 2 and ME3 were, lets just see if theres a pattern, the endings are shockingly bad and to be completely honest Dragon Age 2 is shit compared with the first one.

a agree, i played the first dragon age so many times, then the second one came along and was aimed too much at console gamers. No replayable value at all, much like ME3. I started a new character this morning, but its so hard to get into when you know everything goes to shit anyway.

i've already joined that FB group and have been looking into the ending more. im convinced that the end is some sort of hallucination from (spoiler) blood loss from being pwned by harbringer (who didnt speak at all, wtf. he was such an enemy in ME2 then he just drops in and blasts you), or reaper indoctrination. it just doesnt make sense how the catylyst is all "oh by the way, i control the reapers and they're doing the right thing goodbye". and for shepard, as a character, to just accept the end with no objections or anything goes against the entire message of the franchise. also in the "least terrible ending" where you see shepard take a breathe, he's not in a bunch of space like debris and wires like he should be after the citadel blows up around him, he's in a pile of rubble (which uncannily resembles the state of london before he went through the conduit).(spoiler)

you should have a flick through the mass effect section of reddit .

http://www.reddit.com/r/masseffect/

theres some really good and thoughtout input, not like the bioware forums where its just people bitching.

i'd highly reccomend this topic

http://www.reddit.com/r/masseffect/comments/qrtuq/after_playing_through_all_3_of_the_16_endings_i/

where the guy thinks that the ending was unfinished and was slapped together due to deadlines from EA.

    • From there, it is really just test and assemble. Plug the adapter cables from the unit into the back of the screen, then the other side to the car harness. Don't forget all the other plugs too! Run the cables behind the unit and screw it back into place (4 screws) and you should now have 3 cables to run from the top screen to the android unit. I ran them along the DS of the other AV units in the gap between their backets and the console, and used some corrugated tubing on the sharp edges of the bracket so the wires were safe. Plug the centre console and lower screen in temporarily and turn the car to ACC, the AV should fire up as normal. Hold the back button for 3 sec and Android should appear on the top screen. You need to set the input to Aux for audio (more on that later). I put the unit under the AC duct in the centre console, with the wifi antenna on top of the AC duct near the shifter, the bluetooth antenna on the AC duct under the centre console The GPS unit on top of the DS to AC duct; they all seem to work OK there are are out of the way. Neat cable routing is a pain. For the drive recorder I mounted it near the rear view mirror and run the cable in the headlining, across the a pillar and then down the inside of the a pillar seal to the DS lower dash. From there it goes across and to one USB input for the unit. The second USB input is attached to the ECUtec OBD dongle and the 3rd goes to the USB bulkhead connected I added in the centre console. This is how the centre console looks "tidied" up Note I didn't install the provided speaker, didn't use the 2.5mm IPod in line or the piggyback loom for the Ipod or change any DIP switches; they seem to only be required if you need to use the Ipod input rather than the AUX input. That's it, install done, I'll follow up with a separate post on how the unit works, but in summary it retains all factory functions and inputs (so I still use my phone to the car for calls), reverse still works like factory etc.
    • Place the new daughterboard in the case and mount it using the 3 small black rivets provided, and reconnect the 3 factory ribbon cables to the new board Then, use the 3 piggyback cables from the daughterboard into the factory board on top (there are stand offs in the case to keep them apart. and remember to reconnect the antenna and rear cover fan wires. 1 screw to hold the motherboard in place. Before closing the case, make a hole in the sticker covering a hole in the case and run the cable for the android unit into the plug there. The video forgot this step, so did I, so will you probably. Then redo the 4 screws on back, 2 each top and bottom, 3 each side and put the 2 brackets back on.....all ready to go and not that tricky really.
    • Onto the android unit. You need to remove the top screen because there is a daughterboard to put inside the case. Each side vent pops out from clips; start at the bottom and carefully remove upwards (use a trim remover tool to avoid breaking anything). Then the lower screen and controls come out, 4 screws, a couple of clips (including 3 flimsy ones at the top) and 3 plugs on the rear. Then the upper screen, 4 screws and a bunch of plugs and she is out. From there, remove the mounting brackets (2 screws each), 4 screws on the rear, 2 screws top and bottom and 3 screws holding in the small plates on each side. When you remove the back cover (tight fit), watch out for the power cable for the fan, I removed it so I could put the back aside. The mainboard is held in by 1 screw in the middle, 1 aerial at the top and 3 ribbon cables. If you've ever done any laptop stuff the ribbon cables are OK to work with, just pop up the retainer and they slide out. If you are not familiar just grab a 12 year old from an iphone factory, they will know how it works The case should now look like this:
    • Switching the console was tricky. First there were 6 screws to remove, and also the little adapter loom and its screws had to come out. Also don't forget to remove the 2 screws holding the central locking receiver. Then there are 4 clips on either side....these were very tight in this case and needed careful persuading with a long flat screw driver....some force required but not enough to break them...this was probably the fiddliest part of the whole job. In my case I needed both the wiring loom and the central locking receiver module to swap across to the new one. That was it for the console, so "assembly is the reverse of disassembly"
    • But first....while I was there, I also swapped across the centre console box for the other style where the AV inputs don't intrude into the (very limited !) space.  Part# was 96926-4GA0A, 284H3-4GA0B, 284H3-4GA0A. (I've already swapped the top 12v socket for a USB bulkhead in this pic, it fit the hole without modification:) Comparison of the 2: Basically to do the console you need to remove the DS and PS side console trim (they slide up and back, held in by clips only) Then remove the back half of the console top trim with the cupholders, pops up, all clips again but be careful at the front as it is pretty flimsy. Then slide the shifter boot down, remove the spring clip, loose it forever somewhere in the car the pull the shift knob off. Remove the tiny plastic piece on DS near "P" and use something thin and long (most screwdrivers won't fit) to push down the interlock and put the shifter down in D for space. There is one screw at the front, then the shifter surround and ashtray lift up. There are 3 or 4 plugs underneath and it is off. Next is the rear cover of the centre console; you need to open the console lid, pop off the trim covering the lid hinge and undo the 2rd screw from the driver's side (the rest all need to come out later so you can do them all now and remove the lid) Then the rear cover unclips (6 clips), start at the top with a trim tool pulling backwards. Once it is off there are 2 screws facing rearwards to remove (need a short phillips for these) and you are done with the rear of the console. There are 4 plugs at the A/V box to unclip Then there are 2 screws at the front of the console, and 2 clips (pull up and back) and the console will come out.
