I hope Chris Rogers reads this, I've read heaps of other central locking problems and he seems to be the guru..........

OK Its a R33 GTR with a ? brand alarm etc.... central locking and everything has always worked fine, but in the last couple of days its started doing weird stuff: it locks and unlocks fine with remote but when I get in and start it, as soon as I turn the ignition the doors lock themselves, and when I turn it off they unlock then lock again, also I used to be able to turn ignition off but leave car running with turbo timer, get out and lock with remote, then when it timed out it would automatically alarm itself.. Now when I do that, when the timer times out and car turns off, it unlocks the doors >_<

I'm thinking loose/worn wire/connection, but where to start looking??

A brand name would be helpful or at least a photo of the remote. It seems as though the "lock/unlock via ignition" feature has been turned on somehow. If this is the case,it can be easily programmed off, but would need to know the brand of alarm. If there is an aftermarket turbo timer that is seperate to the alarm system, this may explain why the door locks, lock themselves when you turn off the key. They are supposed to unlock only when the key is turned off. which they do, but there is a microsecond of time where the alarm sees the ignition drop out and when the turbo timer kicks in and supplies power to the ignition circuit (to keep the engine running) it is probably at this point where the alarm sees this power supply and then proceeds to lock the doors, which in turn explains the issue where the doors unlock after the timer, time out (the alarm sees the ignition drop out again and unlocks the doors)

SOLUTION: turn off the auto lock/unlock feature in the alarm. Some alarm manufacturers call this feature "Antihijack" or "ignition door lock"

Cheers,

The anti car jacking is turned on , it is a good idea even in australia where crims are learning to try to jump into your car at the lights , that i would leave on

Insurance is setup to have a alarm that auto locks the car after a time period ?? i know its annoying but insurance prefers it for coverage ?

Leave it on

Turbo timers are instant defects and ghey ? Just drive it mellow before parking it

Disconnect it

My guess is direct electronics or usa maker ? with a bad wire job on the ignition sense curcuit or outboard module

The car battery has been disconnected or run flat ?or someone has found the valet program switch or button combination on the remote Which defaults it to that setting ,

the turbo timer is another issue depending on if its stand alone or alarm driven

I would suss if you sit in it when the timer stops and doors unlock you will also have power to the windows still ? Not sensing the door pin is a possibility , does the lock bitton beep more now ? if so how many beeps ?

thats the remote,

it must have gone into anti-hijack mod due to buttons being pushed while in my pocket. Its the only thing I can think of, nobody's been near it, no flat battery or disconnected, etc.... nothing changed, just happened, virtually over night..

As for the turbo timer, I agree with just drive it mellow before parking up, but I do find it handy on the odd occasion I need to leave it running and lock it, normally to let it warm up while I grad a coffee on the way to work thumbsup.gif also its a GTR with a 2.8L, TO4Z, 272 cams and idles like a top fueler, so defecting the timer is the least of my worrieslaugh.gif

I've had a good look and can't even find the alarm to see what brand it is, so all you have to go on is the remote, how do I turn anti-hijack off ?

cheers

The Ignition door lock feature or Antihijack feature where doors lock on ignition is not really that affective against car jacking and there are Antihijack systems that will shut your engine down after you have safely exited the vehicle and they have driven off with your car. The Autowatch alarms have this feature built in to their software already.

Insurance companies stipulate the "Auto Arming Immobilisers" not 'Auto Arming Alarm". Not to keen on the auto arming alarm feature and in case you leave the keys in the car and the door swings shut and then locks you out. In the last 15 or so years I have only had one customer request this feature.

Ok this is a Dynamco/Cyclops alarm immobiliser system, judging by the remote. Check this page to find your remote and alarm model. http://www.dynamco.com.au/remote_compatibility_chart.php

Your welcome....

Anticar jack feature not effective ? It saved my ex wife while her car was in front of the poilice station !! while i grabbed a pizza inside the shop actoss from police station in adelaide a bunch of kids tried to jack her r31 with her in it !! in front of a crowd of people about 9pm on a friday night , the feature was the only thing that stopped them , i couldnt see thru the dark tint on the store windows since the shop was bright and it was dark outside , ,,,,,plus if you crash often doors fly open locked they wont come open so easy? the other portion of anticarjacking is to shut down the car after preset time or speed is reached , sound sirens and strobe or often much more extreme things , i lived in LA the carjack training grounds and myself attempted to take my rx7 with uzi's ( crips) now you can do it with smart phones a lot easier !! And track it and video the crims remotely so many layers of security there head spins even a flat bed wont work lol

only muppets leave keys in cars in australia or anywhere in the world in general!!! ! auto lock alarm ( immobilizer) thats a retarded name its a glorified alarm with more points of protection ?? immobilizer sounds to me like some word forden made up for fuel cut off and horn honking in the 70's but yet cars still get snagged daily with immobalizers go figure

(Australian car theft is worse then usa by far , the crimes dont fit the punishment here end rant no respect for property !! )

After more then 25 years installing in a much busier market then australia I have had very few customers ask to turn off auto arm /lock feature but when your friends play with your keys it wont leave your car ungaurded

Exceptions the teen girls who would fill up at pretrol station leaving her prized purse , etc on the seat to turn and watch the lights flash and lock her out !! Serves those people right !! But i still see purses laptops etc on front seats at malls ? Idiots and they wonder why it gets broken into dooh !!!

Cant find a brand ? Not even on the remote back or siren top ? Hard to see on iphone but i would say one thing upgrade it if you have that much shite in your car , that is a basic model And your car deserves much better one then that !!

I think its

dynamaco model (cyclops branded i believe) if its the one i think it is ??

    • Bit of an update to this one. Having some issues on the dyno that held us back (boost spiking) and I want to pass some info over you guys and see what you think is wrong with my setup. The current readout on this dyno is 462rwkw on a low reading dyno so keep in mind it is a real world 500rwkw setup on a hub dyno. Don't read into the power figure too much as a sign of the issue. The short and curly of it is: 2.8 Litre Racepace build RB25 NEO N/A Head with VCT (internally standard however ) Borgwarner EFR 8474  Turbosmart 50mm Straight Gate + Mac valve 6Boost Manifold 4" dump to full 4" exhaust (nil restrictions) Wastegate plumbed back in and all angles in the exhaust system are acceptable and not too sharp. GFB SV52 BOV in cooler piping  Turbosmart BOV in EFR Housing   The issue we are having is it comes onto full boost for example at 4000rpm and spikes to 24/25psi, before dropping down to 17psi before slowly rising back up to the target boost of 23psi. It was extremely uncontrollable and the tuner actually had to ramp in boost progrssively with each 1000rpm on each boost setting we selected to try and reduce the amount of spiking. Sometimes we would see a drop of 10psi from the peak at the beginning of the run, to the low, until it took the next 500-1000rpm to stabilise back up to the target boost. The tuner is pretty confident that the straight gate is just a poorly designed product and leaks too much boost upon cracking the gate open and theres no way to fix it other than going to a poppet valve. He's also confient theres no ignition breakdown or floating valves. The fueling is extremely stable as well. Turbo speed is somewhere around the 109,000rpm area. The spanner in the works for me is that prior to this Borgwarner and StraightGate, the car was tuned on -5 twins at a diferent tuner, and he also had issues controlling the boost with it spiking around the same rpm range, so to me this sounds like the same issue and it can't be anything on the turbo side as this was all changed and I think the behaviour is extremely similar, if not the same. We also removed the mac valve and did a run on wastegate pressure and it still spiked and had the same behaviour. My thoughts on possibilities are: Boost Leak VCT Cam Gear isn't reliably activating consistently - (On this however, we did a run with the VCT disabled and the boost still spiked) Turbosmart BOV is not handling the boost? However this seems unlikely to not be able to handle 20psi. I have a couple of logs that I can't make sense of if anybody knows how to read them and can obtain further logs of other parameters if they are not enough, happy to pay for anyones time. The dyno readout with the power figure is the most recent last week. The other picture is from two weeks prior to that where we couldn't break 400kw (we removed the cat), however the issue of the boost control persisted. @Lithium @Piggaz @burn4005 @GTSBoy @discopotato03 I've tagged those that were quite active in recent pages here, no disrespect to those that know turbos well but I missed tagging. • I recently purchased a 2018 Infiniti Q60, which has an SD card navigation map. I can see my system has options for real time traffic updates etc, and am wondering if there is something I can purchase to get this working? I can see there are at least updated maps for USA and Canada, but nothing for Australia. Surely Infiniti took changing road systems and city expansions into account when they decided to use an inbuilt navigation over Android Auto/Apple Car Play, or are we doomed to drive on streets that don't exist in the navigation system if you drive to a new area?
    • Luckily I didn't put in etch primer as I just found out it's not compatible with my body filler lol. Also just need to sand the panel anywhere between 150-400 grit so I'm in the clear there. It does say to not apply to soft old paint, I assume that means paint that is flaking, peeling, etc
    • @dbm7 and @GTSBoy thank you both very much! will give that a shot!
