Petrol Gauge Issue

Since last week my petrol gauge started to play up. along with another friend's R34 sedan at the same time. I've had my R34 for over 4 years now and It's always been fine, gone to plenty of cruises etc. I went to a cruise to rye + Arthur's seat a week ago. i noticed a day after the cruise my petrol gauge started to play up. If the tank was half full or less. the gauge would randomly slowly drop to E and the light would come on to state its very low, then will eventually go back up to the correct amount of petrol in the tank. At first i thought i might have gone over a hard bump in the hills in Arthur's seat which might of made it play up, but over a week now after it, it continues to play up when the tank is half full or below.

I Filled a full tank up to see how it would react and it seems to be fine from full to half, but once half way it continues to randomly drop and then go back up to what fuel it currently has. My mates R34 is doing the exact same thing.

Has anyone had this similar issue or have any advice what can be done to fix this issue?

Give this a go. R34 shouldn't be much different.
