Just want to say that I thought the weekend was great, even though it rained on Saturday morning and caused Drag Combat to be post-poned till Sunday I was glad in a way as it gave me and the other guys from DUEL time to catch up with some sleep that we missed out on the night before.

My friends cousin is the head rep for Sony Car Audio and had come up with about 12 of his mates including Ben Ellis from HPI, we took a couple of them out for a thrash around the coast and they loved it. Especially the car park which blew them away on Saturday night.

The racing was good but like most I was dissapointed that no Australian GTR ran a 9 sec pass....how hard can it be?

The guys from IMS were a supprise with some tuff cars and quck times, its amazing how much tuffer a GTR sounds with no exhaust, most of their cars had HUGE brake upgrades which is often forgotten when modding your car.

Basically it was good fun, there were heaps of skylines (cruise/race) and I got to meat some really cool people like URMINE (Glad Luke could help with your car) & MERL & BY BY from Sydney.

Pics to come soon, I didn't use the digital on the weekend so my 7 rolls of film ( 168 shots of the drags, cruise and carpark ) are at the lab now so stay tuned.

Cam

I will have a coupla hundred more when we get all our films developed also...

And for those who are wondering I am only taking the picture for number 81, I am in no way involved with the other KAOS boys liking to intake piping... 8)

BOOSTMEISTER well done mate lots of pics well organised

only one catagory missing......SDU cars running Dragcombat :P

We know who was King at Dragcombat, Who was Queen (unofficial)??

I've got a couple of contenders , how about the rest of you

I have pics, but don't get them back till tomorrow....and then I have to scan them in....damn I need a digital camera :(

There's one thing that pisses me off about this event. If I'd known that rain would have caused it to be postponed to Sunday, i would have booked a flight home on Monday "just in case".... [cabin] should have mentioned that this "might" happen on their site!

but anyway....

it was still a great weekend....went out on Fri night for a few drinks with slip, la la land, fenn, kabab and others....plus a few runs of Mt Cootha was also done...won't say much more about that :?

Sat morning DRAGCOMBAT....I'd had a total of 20 minutes sleep the night before....I was a zombie but Rod (33GTS25T) pointed me in the right direction for coffee...and big thanks Zero for shouting me another one!!...I needed it!! Took heaps of photos of all the Skylines and other cars out the back, and one of the HKS car when it did it's run down the fence.

I rode shotgun with 33GTS25T on the way home (via KFC) to slip's house, where a few guys came back and talked about whatever guys talk about while I went to bed and tried to get a few hours sleep (I hardly heard any of your conversation HONEST!!) hehehe

Then up again (quick shower) and off riding shotgun again with 33GTS25T to the Gold Coast to "experience" the BWCP...MY GOD...that place was amazing!!!! We met up with the Sydney guys who were staying down there (Merli, BY BY, Urmine etc) briefly...checked out all the cars...etcetc

Cruised back to Brissy after that...much fun...me, Rod, slip, Birty, la la land, Fenn, Nismogirl & b/f?, cruising along the highway in 3 Skylines...all sticking to the speed limit OF COURSE

Birty...SOOOOO did not need to see your arse hanging out of slip's window LMAO!!!

Got home to slip's....went to bed....woke up to a gorgeous sunny Sunday....could have cried cos slip had already left to the "postponed" event....and i was left to pack and catch my flight back home  Don't you hate that feeling when you know you're missing something good but can't do anything about it???

But I truely did have the best weekend, and had so much fun...SLIP you are a legend and I love you heaps and thanks for having me....Rod, your zorst rocks, you were right it's the loudest r33 (but i still think you should buy that red Elise we looked at :P )

Sorry for the long post!!!! BTW....this is only a brief rundown...I haven't gone into the real details LOL

Shell :D

    • I don't understand how this hasn't boiled down to - Upgrade the turbo when you have everything required. ECU, injectors, fuel pump, turbo, etc. Do it all at once.  If you don't have everything required, just enjoy the car as it is and keep saving up your pennies.
    • Sounds like you've got an interesting adventure ahead here with local support if you have trouble! My guess is that, unboosted, you will be OK with a small upgrade like -9. What will happen is that once the stock ECU sees more airflow than it expects it will add a heap of fuel and pull a heap of timing to be safe because it can't understand how it could get that much air without there being an issue. You will see clouds of black smoke and it won't pull hard through the midrange and top end. So, overall it will be a bit frustrating but should be OK. If you are still nervous set the base timing back 2o through the CAS, but it will be even more sluggish everywhere. As said above through...this is not my guarantee your engine won't be blown into a million pieces, leaving you looking for very hard to find parts A better idea is get a computer with logging ASAP, wire in a wide band O2 sensor and a use remote tuner. I've done multiple cars this way and while it is not as good as a specific tune on a dyno they can get it 90% right. I'd suggest if you can afford an R33 GTR these days you can afford an ECU and tune. And if you can't afford that you sure won't be able to afford the rebuild if it goes bad in the meantime,.
    • Yeah it would be nice if someone took the time to put that sort of information together, but there are a lot of variations in looms. I think you are making this way hard for yourself if you just want to get it running....sourcing an SR20 with the right wiring will be a billion times easier than matching the RB loom to an S15 chassis. If you do end up going this way, you just need to trace every wire in the loom with a multimeter, 95% of them will go to a location you can confirm at the ECU.....and then post it up for the next person who needs it
    • Just top it up with water, and keep a general idea of how much you added. It is normal for water to be pushed into and pulled out of the reservoir through the cap, and it should not be more than half full or it will be likely to overflow when hot. Any decent mechanic can do a pressure test of the cooling system to confirm if you have a leak. Keep in mind if it is only leaking a little and when hot it may well evaporate before you see it hit the ground
    • I'd ask the shop what they used and use that. Mixing coolants is sometimes OK, sometimes not, and you have know the details of each coolant to know whether it's a good idea or not.
