Hi guys,

Just say u bought an import and it landed at melbourne. Now i was thinking of getting it complianced and registered there for 1900. (as compared to NSW which is 2900). What i found out when ringing the RTA tech guys was that I if i was to being it up here and get it registered here in sydney.

They would treat it as if the vehicle just got off the boat (engineers cert/green slip/blue slip/weigh bridge..etc would have to be done again) even thou it came from melbourne and plus the engineer cert might not be recognized up here unless listed on the RTA site. :bs!:

U get the money u paid for rego and that in VIC back.

But what would u guys do in this situation?OR have any of you had done the above?..Im actually trying to save quite a lotta mula. But the prob here might be the engineers cert not being recognized.

Cheers

Cef

I bought my car in QLD and it was registered with QLD plates when I took possession of it last year.

I let the rego expire and had the plates confiscated by the cops so I needed to get it registered with blue slip the works.

I went to a blue slip place, provided the compliance certificate from QLD along with Reciept of purchase. They did the blue slip. I went to the RTA and treated it as if I was just transferring rego from another state.

Not sure if this helps, I didnt' have to get the car re-complied in NSW cause it allready had the green plate on it.

I got the same bullshit story when I asked about buying a car from VIC.

If you get it rego'd in Victoria then you'll have to get a NSW blue slip, CTP and then pay a transfer of rego fee plus I think you may have to pay stanp duty as well (3% of the value of the vehicle)

I think that's all

Ok ive decided to bugger doing vic thing now gonna have to pay stampy duty, blue slipy yada yada when it gets here.. all again.. the headaches running around, missing work gonna give me the shits. :D

All i have to say is in NSW registering a car is tough. While other states its so cheap and easy. (I know all the regulations and shit like that but doesnt mean I have to like it)

Thanx anywayz guys.

:D

cef

is not a hassle, but if your gonna comply the car you might as well get it complied here in sydney, but if you but a car from vic then its easy to get it registered in sydney, blue slip, pink slip, green slip, stamp duty and rego, thats it.

i cant wait for september ... hehe good ol 15 year rule .... other than that i hate dam compliancing . what a crap fight that is with the dockies and the rta and the compliancing buro... bblablablabla...... ohhhh getting a head ache....

unless you know your stuff you cant save heeps on importing one yourself ... my mate imported a GT-R and he only made 2 grand on top of what he sold it for ....

    • @GTSBoy Ok so that was the shops problem...they showed R33 rotors on R34 page and i did not know 296 do not fit(and are for R33) Yes i bought "kit" with rotors and pads. Pads are ok(i have GTT calipers front and rear). They have some 324mm but no 310mm. So i dont know if they would fit. I have 17inch LMGT4s So another question. Can i fit those in the rear or they are just "too" big for that?
    • I started removing the tank a while back with the intent to give it a proper clean. Got to a bolt that I couldn't undo completely due to a diff being in the way, so just said f**k it and siphoned the gluggy old fuel out and called it a day. Looking it the tank it looks less corroded than the one in the pics for that billet hanger from Frenchy's anyway. Isn't it the fuel filters job to worry about this stuff? I scraped off most the crusty shit of the hanger but will give it another go before reinstall coz maybe the fuel and return pipes are also full of gunk
    • Pretty sure it is a common fault. I believe this is the only part you need, but don't quote me as I don't have a V36.  I also believe it is a bit of a pain to change and the device needs to be encoded to the car once it is replaced, so may need someone with the right tools. • Pads for R32 GTS-t, R32 GT-R non V-Spec (Sumitomo), R33 GTS-t and R34 GT-t are all interchangeable. R34 GT uses a 2x piston caliper, hence it didn't fit.
    • Checked with amayama and nope, the full S2 manual set is not available anymore. Unsurprising, but still disappointing as the ? on availability gave a glimmer of hope.
