Hey guys. I just starting having a problem wit my BOV. It's a turbosmart one. The car makes that fluttering sound now. When I rev it under the hood, I can see that it isn't opening. The car is running fine tho. No leaks around it that I can notice. any idea how I can fix this? Do I jus get a new one?

BOV is not designed to open unless there is a presence of surge pressure. Assume there is:

Firstly check and make sure the vacuum source to the BOV is after the throttle body.

If it is, then adjust the valve pressure generally controlled by a spring, like Peter said above.

Occasionally on a brand new BOV the thick oil sprayed onto the valve stiffens causing it to seize, use a wood stick genitally press in the valve and let it bounces back few times till unstuck or spray some WD40.

The tension is backed off all the way. Ive had this one on there for a few years and haven't adjusted it at all. When I took the car out yesterday it was fine, but when I drove home it wasn't working. Ive been told to try pulling it apart and cleaning it. It's a turbosmart dual port one. Anybody had any experience with doin this?

i had the same issue with my blitz one. You should pull the slide out and run some wet and dry paper around it (1200 grit) then get a socket the same size as the slide and move the slide up and down in the bov. Seemed to take about 10 times for mine to free up. Give it a go.

Sorted guys. Lol I called up turbosmart. They told me how to fix it. I took the bov off and undid the cap all the way till it came off. The spring poped out. I pushed hard on the piston coz it was jammed. Once it popped out you could see along the side of it, the spot where it was seizing. I jus used a bit of kero to clean all the crap off it and re-lubed the piston wit wd40 till it slid freely. Put it all back together and it's fine!!

According to turbosmart you should do this at least every 6 months. They even give you a video. Here's the link if anyone's interested. Cheers guys

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
