-5s will be useless unless you upgrade alot of other things to go with it, you wont be able to run much boost with stock fuel system etc... and will just be laggier

Very true. Look at my build thread if you want to see how much...

google 'bakes' r34 gtr and look at his build thread for minimum mods required for -5's and how ordinary looking (IMO) the results were...and that was with one of the best builders and tuners in australia.

Twin plates are overrated! Jim Berry single plates are where its at!

Wrong! Jim berry twin plates are where it is really at.

Nope, its dead quiet but with 4600lb clamp it takes whatever is thrown at it so far........ The rattling is amusing for around 3 seconds!

Yep rattle was amusing for 3s with mine....cause is was been made by the spigot bearing :domokun:

so what would everyone recomend

-9/-7 ( on e85) 2000cc injectors, 3+" full exhaust. Upgraded fuel pump(s), 3bar map sensor and haltech/vipec/link ecu. Link ecu would be cheapest.

This will net you 330(-7) to 360(-9) kw on 98 and you may crack 400(-9) if you go for e85. E85 would provide -5 power, without the lag. E85 also requires a ethanol sensor and fuel line upgrades.

TBH, I rekon see if you can go for drive/ride in a -5 and a -9 powered ride and see what suits you best.

You could also look at twin gtx2860 or gtx2863 just to throw a spanner in the works.

But just so we're clear - what we're really saying is that you can't just spend $3-4k on an ecu and -5's, slap em on and expect 400awkw. If that were the case, everyone would be doing it. (I wish it was lol)

Hahaha at the end of the day it doesn't matter what exhaust you run, the SR will always sound like a piece of shit!!!

Sounds like a tractor..... Fkn horrible engine!

RB or GTFO

This is not HT or BoostCruising

hahaha dont be so mean mat!!

GOD DAMN! look at this beauty

pretty cheap for what it is! only the pricee of a bloody 34r

Plus i had to run to the Central Coast and pick up the oil cooler core to go with the GREDDY block and custom lines.... And front brakes should arrive tomorrow I hope

well DVS jez had a look at my GTR quickly tonight, at idle it was not putting out any error codes, did a smoke test, no leaks besides a small hose that was loose on its fitting quick cable tie and that was sorted, 02 sensors seem to be working fine, unplugged them drove it home, still no boost, the 2 AFM are not reading the same flow rate they are a little bit off so 1 turbo may be sucking harder then the other, ill get the guys that built it to look over it on saturday and see what they think, Jez said next step is to swap my AFM over and see if that makes any difference and to load it up on the dyno and see what its doing under power.

Oh my....that is amazing.

But would have to give it a good look underneath at the chassis rails, underbody etc.

Would also like auction papers to confirm its a grade 4 or above.

    • Nah. You need 2x taps for anything that you cannot pass the tap all the way through. And even then, there's a point in response to the above which I will come back to. The 2x taps are 1x tapered for starting, and 1x plug tap for working to the bottom of blind holes. That block's port is effectively a blind hole from the perspective of the tap. The tapered tap/tapered thread response. You don't ever leave a female hole tapered. They are supposed to be parallel, hence the wide section of a tapered tap being parallel, the existince of plug taps, etc. The male is tapered so that it will eventually get too fat for the female thread, and yes, there is some risk if the tapped length of the female hole doesn't offer enough threads, that it will not lock up very nicely. But you can always buzz off the extra length on the male thread, and the tape is very good at adding bulk to the joint.
    • Nice....looking forward to that update
    • Neg, the top one is actually for the front. The sizes are 18x10.5 +18 and 18x11 +32.   I measured many times but I'm sure I'll have problems as this is the thread for problems.
    • Just one thing; tapping tapered threads is tricky. Taps are always tapered and you would generally run it as far as you can, but with a tapered thread you have to stop much sooner otherwise the wide part of the taper will run in too far and you will have to thread the sensor in too far too as well (possible that it will never make a good seal) BTW nice wide wheels, I guess the top one is for the back!
    • Welp, good to know. Will have to wait awhile until steady hands with drills and taps are available. In other news, these just arrived! I will weigh them for posterity. Edit: 11kg each (or 10.9/11.1 depending on what my scale decides over multiple tests, the 18x11 don't seem to weigh noticeably any more than 10.5)
