Hey benji,

Has extreme super ultra late braking as per your driving style ever sent you off into a field?

I mean come on how late can you brake with metal on metal brakes??

haha read that this morning and was thinking the same thing....

should add 'to infinity + 1' after it just to be sure :)

LOL

I havent driven the car since I took it for a drive when I got my full licence (based on advice from everyone).

My driving style always is extreme ultra super late braking.

Front brakes are fine, rear brakes are metal on metal. When I had my drive after I got my full licence I just relied on engine braking by downshifting early... and then quickly pressing the brakes firmly to pull up to a stop.

Wakefield RaceTrack

When I had my trackday on July 25th, The rear brakes became metal on metal in my last session, and naturally I just thought optimistically and assumed I was getting pretty severe brake fade and that my pads were just on the replace indicator (little metal shavings to warn you that your pads need to be replaced).

The rear end felt very unstable and very twitchy as the metal on metal brakes at the rear weren't grabbing evenly, and I really had to manhandle the car to keep it on the track. Goes to show how good the front brakes for the S15 are, considering I was still cannonballing down the straight at about 160-170kmh.

    • Just to add, I found the r32 gtr ecu the most forgiving, the r33 one would get the shits.
    • For what it’s worth I drove my gtr for over a decade with gt-ss as a true daily after I pulled off the -5s, I had it engineered and went with stock ecu etc.  never skipped a beat.    I would only worry if you can’t get good fuel all the time in a tropical paradise
    • I bought an engine from a friend of a friend many years ago, it was sold to me as a RB25det Neo.    recently I started pulling it apart and noticed that the intake manifold was pretty different from others that I had seen on RB engines so did a bit of research and found that it was a non turbo manifold. So I’m sceptical now that it is a NEO DET and just thinking it’s a NEO DE (it does have a turbo strapped to it currently).    can you identify the engine model from the numbers on the block?
    • Yeah you can. Cable tie the gauge to a windscreen wiper, or run it into the car and hold it with one hand, or have the neighbour's kid run alongside and tell you what it says.
    • I've never understood why this bothers people. Surely you'd be looking at a T3 flanged Garrett style thing, rather than a TD? You're unlikely to push a +T hard enough to need that much fuel. If you're not starting with most of the things you need to do that (ie, the bloody ECU!), you're better off just going Haltech/Link. You wil hate life a lot less. No. Just no. Just turbo it as is.
