Question time for everyone

Is it possible to open the bonnet on the 34 by reaching up under the front bar?

Reason I ask is I had car locked in the driveway and not long got inside when the alarm goes off

Race out side and have a look around and didn't see anyone at first but stepson says he spotted a couple of kids jumping the fence two houses behind us

Get back and check the car and the bonnet is up but not open and the car was locked

Not happy at all, some f**kers tried to steal the car I reckon

Now I'm paranoid I'm going out the front for a smoke

wtf???? do you have the oil pan on it??

thatd be way to hard!!

why would kids try to steal your car?? thats weird as. could of jimmied it open?

Nah not jimmied

Reach through opening in front bar and find bonnet cable, pull on cable bonnet opens

Will make up some sort of cover to prevent this happening again

No idea why kids would try but will flog anyone if they try again and I catch them

MJH

At least you now know your alarm is a good theft deterrent...

And yes, your vehicle is very nice so wouldn't doubt they tried to knock it off. Definately make something up to stop them from getting the bonnet up.

R32 GTR UPDATE

The guy my cousin sold the 32 GTR to is thinking of selling it soon (he's only put 2000kms on it in the past 3 years he's owned it). My cousin is giving him a ring tomorrow to get a ballpark figure of how much $$ he's looking to get for it....then if its low enough might go for a look :). Has a forged engine and upgraded turbos etc...

I said to Dad if the chassis is 100% straight and original then its worth buying, so Dad said he'd be happy to buy it if so and that he'd sell it to me once I get a full time job .... =D

Just checked an yes you can open the bonnet by reaching up under the front bar

Have to do something about that

Yeah if they can get the cable they can pop it up! Hook it directly to your battery :P Or put razor blades around it!

If you think of a plan let us all know ;)

i know of at least 2 r34 gtr's that went missing via this method in the last 12 months.

We will need to start parking in secure places only, its shit!

At least at my place they have little chance of getting my car out without someone noticing, but people are pretty ballsy i guess!

haha yeah that's some balls!! I need to build this garage...

10 hours OT today for the fund

Good work man! Sounds like you are killing it!

Are you doing a colourbond shed in place of the existing etc?

yeah tearing mine down (when I got money) then gunna squeeze in a pitiful 6x6 in the yard. which will leave heaps of room round the left side of it. might put a garden shed there or a spa area way down the track? then the other side pimp out with plants and do a whole new fence and back yard will be done.

so much OT... hahaha.

got about 3k saved lolololol.

yeah I got a quote for like 3k for the shed and 4k for it installed! so add 3k for a driveway and council fees and should be laughing.

Still way cheaper than car lol

    • For once a good news  It needed to be adjusted by that one nut and it is ok  At least something was easy But thank you very much for help. But a small issue is now(gearbox) that when the car is stationary you can hear "clinking" from gearbox so some of the bearing is 100% not that happy... It goes away once you push clutch so it is 100% gearbox. Just if you know...what that bearing could be? It sounding like "spun bearing" but it is louder.
    • Yeah, that's fine**. But the numbers you came up with are just wrong. Try it for yourself. Put in any voltage from the possible range and see what result you get. You get nonsense. ** When I say "fine", I mean, it's still shit. The very simple linear formula (slope & intercept) is shit for a sensor with a non-linear response. This is the curve, from your data above. Look at the CURVE! It's only really linear between about 30 and 90 °C. And if you used only that range to define a curve, it would be great. But you would go more and more wrong as you went to higher temps. And that is why the slope & intercept found when you use 50 and 150 as the end points is so bad halfway between those points. The real curve is a long way below the linear curve which just zips straight between the end points, like this one. You could probably use the same slope and a lower intercept, to move that straight line down, and spread the error out. But you would 5-10°C off in a lot of places. You'd need to say what temperature range you really wanted to be most right - say, 100 to 130, and plop the line closest to teh real curve in that region, which would make it quite wrong down at the lower temperatures. Let me just say that HPTuners are not being realistic in only allowing for a simple linear curve.
    • I feel I should re-iterate. The above picture is the only option available in the software and the blurb from HP Tuners I quoted earlier is the only way to add data to it and that's the description they offer as to how to figure it out. The only fields available is the blank box after (Input/ ) and the box right before = Output. Those are the only numbers that can be entered.
    • No, your formula is arse backwards. Mine is totally different to yours, and is the one I said was bang on at 50 and 150. I'll put your data into Excel (actually it already is, chart it and fit a linear fit to it, aiming to make it evenly wrong across the whole span. But not now. Other things to do first.
    • God damnit. The only option I actually have in the software is the one that is screenshotted. I am glad that I at least got it right... for those two points. Would it actually change anything if I chose/used 80C and 120C as the two points instead? My brain wants to imagine the formula put into HPtuners would be the same equation, otherwise none of this makes sense to me, unless: 1) The formula you put into VCM Scanner/HPTuners is always linear 2) The two points/input pairs are only arbitrary to choose (as the documentation implies) IF the actual scaling of the sensor is linear. then 3) If the scaling is not linear, the two points you choose matter a great deal, because the formula will draw a line between those two points only.
