I hope I posted this in the right section but I'm having a slight issue with my car & my wovi inspection, I got a call from them today to tell me that its all good there is no issue with the numbers & the repairs :) the only thing that we can pick is.... your airbag light on your cluster is not coming on like it should!! its should come on for 8seconds then turn off, gee I guess they check more then I thought.

Anyway I've tried searching but I can't find anyone with the same problem or issue I've got. The problem I'm having is it's not coming on at all, I removed the cluster when I got home only to find that there was no light/globe in their at all. So I removed the interior globe from the cluster & put it into the airbag spot to test that it is working however the fault remains & the light still won't come on. I've checked the fuse which was fine but I decided to replace it with a new one anyway, I've also disconnected the battery & re-connected but it still won't work.

When I brought the car their was an after market momo steering wheel on it which I guess is why it was removed, I have replaced it with a standard steering wheel & just recently had the clock spring replaced as the horn wasn't working also to pass the safety inspection.

The horn is now working as it should, but I'm not sure about the airbag other then crashing the car to find out lol.

Does anyone know or have any ideas what the problem maybe or how I can get this fixed without having to take it to Nissan, I'm knew to QLD & I don't know any auto electricians that won't charge the earth like the one I had to repair the horn...

I live near Brisbane so if anyone knows someone that they have used & can possibly recommend, it will be greatly welcomed :) all I want to do is get rego on my car so I can finally take it for a cruise & not just to & from inspections!!

i just wrecked a s2 r33 so have abs computer, clock spring, airbags and all sorts of spares. Try a scan tool id possible first but if u need spares let me know.

Did everything go back together as it should once you replaced the clock spring? Did the repalcement have the same letter on it as the one you repalced? They can vary and they are coded by a letter.

Just wanted to say a huge thanks to Chris for taking the time to drop round & scan my car today, I'm still a little in the dark lol however we were able to sort of narrow it down a bit. Will be definitely joining SAU QLD once I'm finally back on the road :) this site is worth its weight in gold. thanks again

its not in the airbag electronics we both know that. I suspect a bad connection on the cluster myself.

if I get a bit more time we can look further. today was scan the car and see what pops up.

Ok after some digging I've come across a photo, now comparing to the back of mine I don't have a wire running from the airbag terminal. I'm suspecting this maybe my issue.

If someone could confirm that there should be a wire connected & if they could let me know where it should be going too as the picture I have, doesn't seem to show the whole of the back of the cluster. Dam I don't seem to be able to upload the picture not sure what I'm doing wrong, anyway there is a wire connected on the back of the cluster to the airbag terminal but I can't see where it is connected to

I seem to have found out what I'm missing from my cluster, the part I'm looking for is the black connector for airbag globe that connects into the back of the instrument cluster, there as two wires that connect into the back of the globe which are also missing. If anyone has one spare that there not using & maybe want to sell or could possibly lend me so I can pass this inspection let me know otherwise I guess I will try & source one from Nissan, thanks in advance.

    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
