I'm currently in the process of removing weight from my weekend and track driven 32 GTR. I've already taken out the air con, rear wiper and some little luxury things that I didn't really need. Now I'm thinking how far I should go with it. Removing the rear seats and sound deadening has crossed my mind but I don't really want to ruin the car I really enjoy driving on the road.

My question is, how far have you taken the weight loss in your street and track driven skyline and did it ruin the comfort when driving on the street.

My weight savers so far, are...

9Kg Ti exhaust

1Kg C/F Rear wing blade

4Kg Ti front strut brace

You've already mentioned other N1 eliminations; but the R32 GTR N1 also dispensed with ABS eh? Are you game enough to remove sound system, speakers and ADR child restraints too?

Depends how much street use, the sound deadening and carpet prob around 30-35kgs+-???, the back seat is pretty light, under 10kgs, they're pretty loud inside with it all out, especially with big exhaust etc, for me for st leave it in, if more track and winning is winning take it out

Yeah i had the interior out for a while, it wasnt only the noise that annoyed me it was the glare off the white in the sun.... I stripped all mine and put a cage in, never bolted it down then had a change of heart and put the full interior back in...

rear steering, I removed the whole thing right to the pump including the pump wheel, about 25kgs

inside sound deadening, 9kgs, not worth the effort on a 1400+kg car and makes the car horribly noisy to drive on the street

Ok I think I'll leave the sound deadening and the seats in then. For a 9kg loss I don't think it'll be worth having all that road noise. Hicas has been removed a while ago. Same as rear wiper, air con including core behind dash (never use air con so removed the lot), rear speakers gone, I 'm planning on removing the abs soon too.

Anything else people recommend to remove on a street and track driven skyline?

Biggest weight saving factor... Dont let girlfriends in the car hahaha.

Terry dont tell Kinberley i said that :P

You would never drop Kimberley off to lessen the weight. And if you did, you also know there'd be ten other guys hanging around to pick her up :)

Abouts time you knew how to spell her name too ;)

Lol > that part, I can tell her!

    • That looks good, but I think you're going to need much beefier side skirts now.
    • They are daft and there's a reason it never caught on. Steering feel? We don't need no stinking steering feel!
    • I gotta pull you up on this. It's driving me crazy. A shutter is something that closes, like over a window or in a cmera. The word you want is shudder. That LSD is clearly f**ked. Take it to a diff shop and get it disassembled and examined by an expert. YOu might have plates welded together or something equally crazy.
    • Define "starting to fail". Wy not just rebuild them?
    • Check the Nistune doco. There are a few assumptions being made here that might not be valid. I will list the things that occur to me: Base map. Base map for what? Base map for Z32? Then the cranking pulse width is probably wrong for an RB25. The extra 500cc of capacity might well be enough to prevent it from catching. Base map for RB25? I don't think you can load one of those into a Z32. You have to just make the settings correct for an RB25 in the Z32 base map. That is either K or the TIM to get the pulsewidth right. Loom. You bought a loom for an RB. And you plugged it into a Z32 ECU. Did you make sure that any iwre differences were swapped. From memory, there's at least a couple. And as per the others, I would suggest making sure that the fuel pressure is correct while cranking and that the injectors are actually flowing as expected. They really must come out and go on the bench, unless you do find that you have messed up as per above points. I would also suggest watching in Nistune to make sure that everything is reading correctly. That the correct binary flags are raised at the right time (like the crank signal), that there's no stupid values in K or TIM. That you have not got mismatched firmware for the ECU and/or a wrong image loaded.
