Hi Guys,

there's heaps on here about the coppermix twins, but not many reviews on the singles.

I've read the NISMO brochures and know that they're good for around 420ps, but am hoping someone has one in a GTR that can give me a bit of info and their thoughts.

Being a fairly stock car, my 32 putts around with about 280 rwkw on high boost which is rarely used. I'm actually thinking of removing the boost controller all together and just going with the stock solenoid so i think power wise it should be ok.

At the same time though, i want to be sure it'll do the job for years to come, even if i do decide to punish it every know and then. Have read a fair few reviews on them being used in higher power S15's and S14's but am curious about how they go in an AWD

Please no "speak to Jim Berry" comments. I've got one in at the moment and am not happy with it. Just my personal taste.

The twin will be overkill for a stock car, so no point spending the extra k ( or close to)

Cheers

I had one, felt like stock (thought it was stock until pulled it out and got a surprise), took a beating and never had any problems with it. Used it to 262rwkw, never slipped once. You'll be very happy Bobby, go for it. Send a PM to elrodeo666 for buying one - he's a fkn legend and you wont find someone who not only has them cheaper but more importantly he keeps you updated throughout the process from start to finish.

I have to say though, I went from the nismo single to the nismo twin version, didn't regret it at all. While i understand the cost difference, they drive very similar and the twins are so great on a dirty great big launch for when we finally get you on the skidpan ;)

Thanks Guys,

haha, Steve i did have a bit of a play at a texi a few years back ( 1 run with a 3500rpm rev limit ;) )

Yeah i spoke to Marcus last year and will def go with him if i go ahead. His prices were by far the best!

Thanks Alan,

read somewhere that they're quite noisy?

Little bit of extra rattle from the lightweight flywheel, as expected. But nothing extreme.

Mainly on idle and through low RPM range.

You may have heard that in the product warning - http://www.nismo.co....tch/lineup.html

  • The sports clutch discs and light weight flywheels, which are designed and manufactured to increase capacity for higher output and to improve clutch response, may cause the transmission or bearings to make a rumbling noise which is not present when using the original Nissan production parts. Such noise is particularly likely to occur when idling or when accelerating and decelerating at around 2000 rpm. Please be aware that this rumbling is not due to any defect in the parts.

    • The final part arrived today to un-clampify and simplify the intake Who would have though a 1/2" hose stainless bulkhead fitting designed for below waterline bilge pumps would be what I needed Test fit on a 3" offcut I had laying around to see if it would work, and it worked a treat All going well the intake will be on its "final version" tomorrow

    • Welcome to SAU, what are you looking at buying?
    • I checked the injectors again (1 and 2, since they’re easiest to access) to make sure they weren’t clogged. Even though the entire fuel system had been cleaned, I wanted to be certain. Everything looked clean, so I reinstalled and connected everything. When I started the car to confirm everything was okay, it immediately revved up high, so I shut it off straight away. I checked to see if I’d missed a vacuum hose or something, but everything was connected. On the second attempt, the car ran without the high idle, but I noticed a distinct “compressed air” sound coming from the engine bay. Tracing the sound, I pushed injector #6 forward slightly and the noise stopped — it turned out it wasn’t seated properly, despite the fuel rail being bolted down. While holding it in place, the car idled steadily without stalling and ran for over 5 minutes. At this point, I pulled all six injectors out just in case I hadn’t seated them correctly or dirt had gotten onto the O-rings. Unfortunately, I discovered that I had damaged 3 out of 6 injectors (the OEM 270cc ones) during installation. So yes, this was my fault. Since only the pintle caps were damaged, I’ve ordered a Fuel Injector Service Kit from NZEFI to refurbish them. In the meantime, I reinstalled my new injectors – the car now idles fine for over 15 minutes without stalling. I have not attempted to drive it so far. It’s not perfect yet, as it hesitates when the throttle is pressed, but it’s a big improvement. Unplugging the IACV with the new injectors idles at around 800rpm, even with the IACV screw tightened fully. But this is probably due to tune.
