how eurasian is he? i thought he just had some american indian in him or something...

also the car with the rear end you dont like isnt for sale anymore, mentioned that in my post with all the links to ads..also mentioned that i cant find the red one in VIC with the TE37's so i assume thats gone too.

yeah was kind of kidding with the stripey soft top but lol, worth a shot.

who moved the thread? not much chance of people in other states being able to help out if they dont see the thread but no biggie, its probably worth waiting till something decent and local comes up. So far the 09 gun metal is the best contender..certainly not enough V36 Skylines around in the right spec either. WTF NSW?

From the carsales list that you gave these two that i think it might work (fingers crossed) as the rest are either soft top (which i don't like) OR the price range is way too high that i can't see how i will be able to put it down to where i want.

Anyone who might be keen to check out with me..let me know..i'll work time out with owner/dealer.

Thank AsM .... it's not what I really looking for....

And yes the one in QLD looks great ...wandering if anyone can go to have a look for me..the unknown hurry to sell doesn't really smell good to me...but i'm thinking from the woman way...so...

i suppose you could get the QLD equivalent of the NRMA to do one of those inspection thingies they do for a few hundred bucks.

I just asked on facebook the one dude i know in brisbane and he has seen it around, was very impressed. Its too far (90mins) from brisvegas for him to go out and see the guy though.

will post in QLD section and see if we get any bites

oh and hey

can any of you SAU people sort out a character whose commenting on wittyjanes facebook shots of her next car?

he is trying to disuade her from buying it for reasons unfathomable..im also not sure his science on exhausts is legit, is basically saying that exhausts are pointless as a performance mod unless your at high revs all the time.

tried a direct link to 'le stalkbook' but it didnt work, just curious how close to the mark he is.

heres a shot of the car she saw with scuff marks evident, anyone know how much it would cost to buff this out?

Hi Jane, it's Fernando from the last meet. How'd you go with the brisbane car?

Hi Fernando, :D

Most ppl I showed the photos of the car to, told me not to get it tho the price is exceptable but due to kilometres (70000km) and the engine has been modified and they reckon it has been trashed..and from talking to the owner himself i wouldn't be surprised and he is the kinda the rich guy who just got new toy, played with it to the max and doesn't care so much about money that he might lose and the reason that he is selling is because his new 2012 GTR coming (new toy for him)...and also a couple scratches around the car as well tho the owner offered to fix it. And so many ppl reckon that the 20inch rims and tyres are bad for the car...

Buy a brand new Toyota 86 for $35k, pocket $10K of budget and spend on shoes, win?

I'm actually waiting to see the BRZ from Subaru. My friend who is exec sales at Subaru promises to bring the car home (as we live next door) for test drive and a bit of rev (if will need lol)....

your talking about that guy on facebook? pffft, i dont know. Most sporty cars have been driven hard and if they cant put up with a little high revving action now and then they shouldnt be on your shopping list. The 370 (not a 270 or 360 like your friend called it ;) ) is renowned for its reliablity and im sure even one with a few km's under it will last at least the six or so years you plan on having it if not longer.

Would def get him to get the scratches fixed up but other than that it seems like a fine car for the money and the rims are easy enough to replace, if your planning on tracking it you should keep the ones it has and have a separate set for the track anyway!

anyway keep us posted on the BRZ drive, i know where your heart lies though!

    • Ha, well, it's been.... a bit of a journey. Things have taken much longer than I'd hoped. I'll probably put up a thread at some stage. Hopefully soon. The car's not done any kms since my update in June though, put it that way.
    • Here's the chart for fuel pressure vs. current draw, assuming your base fuel pressure is 3 bar and you run like 0.5bar boost on WOT, you should only momentarily hit 9amps here and there. (Ignore my prev post, I cannot read a chart these days it seems)
    • Those comp test results are not hideous. Whether they are accurate or not (ie, when that comp tester says 140 psi, is the real pressure120, 140 or 160?) is unknown to us. The state of the battery used to crank it over is unknown, etc etc. Many people around here would say that the absolute values and the spread are perfectly fine to just add boost and keep going. I personally would be happier with a narrower spread than that, but even the diff between 125 and 145 is not terrible. That one cylinder at 125 though, has probably copped some damage relative to the others. You should inspect the valves seeing as you've got it open. Do you know how to measure installed ring gaps? That, and an inspection of the rings themselves, is how you will determine whether they need to be replaced. If you're not good to do these things, take the block and the pistons and rings to a shop that is, and ask them for the go/no-go on them. Do the bores need a hone at all? If so, you might well be justified in getting some different pistons in order to get away from the ring supply problem. Whether you're happy to spend a lot more money right now, on more gear, rather than less money, but an amount that looks stupid given that you will only get a handful of rings in exchange for that money, is for you to decide.
    • also possibly backed up to my filler and shat down it! 🤣
    • Ok so i would love some advice here please, i purchased an R33 a few months back and its had a few mods done to the engine, its an RB25det running a Master ECU, 1200cc injectors, bigger turbo, oil cooler, oil filter relocation kit, Spool H-beam rods, acl/ross pistons. When i removed the motor from the vehicle (as its getting a respray) i thought i would compression test it and these are the following results. Cylinder 1-145psi, Cylinder 2-143psi, Cylinder 3-125psi, Cylinder 4-145psi, Cylinder 5-140psi, Cylinder 6-135psi this test was done with the motor on the ground and powering up the starter motor. I dropped the sump and found broken oil squirters on cylinder 3,5 and 6. I was told my rings are probably worn so i stripped the motor completely to get a new set of rings for it. The trouble is no one has these rings anywhere and they have to be custom made by Ross over in the states and will cost about $600+$200 delivery. My question is how can i tell if my rings are at fault and if they are still ok and is this price ok for a set of rings?
