Hi Guys,

Thinking of repainting my Black V35. Thinking of sticking on to the black but would like some suggestions of better colour options(with photos if you have). Also what are the questions that i should be asking like what type of paint should i use and other info. Could someone give me rough price for the job.

Thanks a lot guys.

hey guys, few questions....cheap and best place to buy the paint in Brisbane...or do you think i shud order online....secondly is clear coat optional and do i need to buy some premium thinner for the paint...

buy the paint online? you are not going to try and paint it your self right? and clear coat, of course !!!!

$2500 or more for a respray from someone cheap..

$2500?! Would have thought that $4k would be a more appropriate number - for a decent job with proper clear applied that is.

Agreed, I had the turret (hood), and boot lid resprayed in another car a few years back now, and that was $900 - wasn't triple layer pearl paint either.. You can probably add 50% more if you want a pearl coat.

$2K would probably only get u a taxi paint job. i.e.: door jams, engine bay etc untouched. A proper paint full respray would cost you $5K++++++

so true i.e Sheldon's ._.

i would recommend just go BLACK so just in case unseen accidents color matching will be a breeze

i got a mate that goes car wrap pm me i can give more info on facebook

f**k off, my paint job is awesome - 3 layer pearl for 2k (Usually he does it for 4k - 5k). Not painting inside the doors / engine pay isn't the biggest deal, my cars white, inside my doors are an off white - in no way is my paint job a "Taxi paint job"

Even if I had 5k to spend i'd still rather spend 2k to get what i've done. I would change nothing about my car.

Black is one of the worst colours to go with, although it does look amazing on most cars. Attracts heat and if you live in 25-30 degree heat every day you don't will suffer.

Scratches come up horribly and is very difficult to maintain, but if you take care of it and don't mind the extra heat then it can turn out being a very good investment.

You haven't changed colour mate. Pearl white on white is a pretty breezy job - compared to changing the colour all together.

Ever seen those cabs that are orange outside and inside is all blue still.. lol!

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
