So,

If I boot it and then stop shortly there after, I get a sulphur smell in the car. Also if I go up a really steep hill on approx 2.5-5psi, so just holding revs while going 110 that same smell creeps into the car.

My cat is only about 6k km old.

I have also tightened up the bolts around the cat.

What else could be causing me this stinky smell?

It's most likely nothing to worry about mate, most petrols have sulfur in the additives. Some are better/worse smelling than others. Are you filling up from the same petrol station every time, or have you recently filled up at a station you don't normally fill up at?

Ah indeed it is a 100cell cat. stupid cat.

My next suggestion was going to be maybe you left some fried rice in the glove box after a night out at Golden Palace so I'm glad it's a 100cell cat.

The fried rice will tend to change smell anyway and I've only had that problem twice before so it's not common in the Skylines

Haha, didnt even think a container of fried rice could fit in the glovebox.

Ah well, the life of running a cat i spose. Decat pipe one day

On the topic of cats, my cars been tuned on no cat, im fitting a 100 cell cat, with a 4 inch body on a 3 inch pipe, will it change the tune much? and for lean or rich? Im getting a retune after just not sure if I should baby it before tune with new cat. Running 338kw on 22 psi. On caltex 98

Any help would be good thanks

Depends on how much it flows, if it is a restriction then it will change the load points. But if it's a well flowing cat then it shouldn't change the tune much at all. I did a back to back test on my car with the exhaust on/off from the front pipe back, made hardly any difference.

Safest to get it checked first, but you shouldn't have to baby it TOO much.

just for sake of conversation my work ute does this too but only sometimes. its an 04 holden rodeo 3.5l v6 and the only unusual thing about this car is that it chews through the oil. i will do an oil change or really top up about every 4 months and only about 500ml will come out. so, maybe the smell might also have something to do with oil consumption.

    • Ok thanks..that was my second question if i can somehow bypass this even with Nistune(that is all i have right now...aparat from stock ECU. So with some aftemarket it can by "bypassed" or make it work?  I know there is Link or Haltech (mainly used). We have ECUmaster here so i will gather some info about it.
    • Yes. You will need to get the original boost sensor and wire it in. That is.... if you plan to use a stock ECU - even a Nistuned ECU. The Nissan ECU will not operate correctly without it connected. And yes, it will do annoying stuff like you are experiencing. You will almost certainly be better off with some aftermarket ECU, than trying to hunt down rare sensors.
    • Ok so ABS/TCS is "not" the problem. Yeah i know now about the ABS with Nistune(i told that to the Nistune guy) but iam not 100% why or why i dont have ABS. ABS cube is in the engine (always has been) but i had braked couple of times rly hard and brakes just locked and scream. Does all Skylines have ABS cube? That boost sensor https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/367633-wtb-r34-gtt-turbo-pressure-sensor-pics-inside/ Is this it? I need to ask but i have a picture of engine bay and i do not see that (100% is not in that place) If i do not have this the car can do what mine is?(cutting around 4000 rpm) Here is the pic of my engine bay(only one i have) BUT i think i dont have that cuz loom was used from my RB20DE NEO and i know (obviously) that it does not have boost control or any wire to that...) so maybe that is the problem? (i dont know for 100% if that car where the engine is from had that)...but i dont have the loom from that
