What are the extra costs?

Whats blue slip ?

What's pink slip?

How much is rego?

How much is insurance?

So basically, how much money do you need, to buy your first car, but at you want to save money.

Because I've been looking around, pretty much everywhere, ive looked at my options like imports, dealerships, outa state, private etc.

Does nsw have car yards. Like ssv in vic. For state.

Pic on the newbie if you want??

"yea I ride a push bike"

" I should be looking in the hobby shop for my car"

And whatever you guys say, to insult me. Of I can put it up with bullying at schools, probs could do it here.

Cheers sau !

Hello,

Extra costs when buying a car.

Transfer fees (which will depend on the purchase price of the vehicle, and by state), other maintenance costs which you will need to factor in to the purchase price of the vehicle, example - tyres - etc. If buying from interstate, calculate your costs for airline tickets there and potentially back, and if driving back (fuel, time - etc), or getting it transported (get a quote from CEVA logistics if you go this way).

What is a blue / pink slip.

You do not need to worry about a blue or pink slip if the car is currently registered. They are both checks which are required to get the car ready for registration / reregistered. Upon purchase you will need to obtain the registration papers from the seller, you will receive the green slip (CTP - Certificate of third party personal liability insurance required for registration of a motor vehicle) in the mail within the next week or so.

How much is rego?

Registration cost will differ per vehicle, per state. Speak with the relevant motor autorities if you have questions regarding this. Another suggestion would be to speak with your friends who own cars in your state which own similar vehicles to what you are after, to obtain a rough estimation on cost.

How much is insurance?

Depends on your car, age, driving history, location - etc. Get yourself a quote from justcarinsurance.com.au or similar.

Yes they do, however I suggest you do some google searches for feedback on the car yards before you purchase a car from them.

The above answers are just a few quick high level summary answers to your questions. I suggest further research is required before you jump in to purchasing a car and if possible, bring someone with you - potentially a family member or friend who is familar with the process to assist you.

If you are looking for a standard skyline, I do not think you need to go down the 'interstate' or importing' path. There are enough local examples in each state to suit the majority of potential purchasers.

Also, I do not know your current age, however it is important to note that some states have rules which restrict young drivers from driving turbo charged vehicles.

can we ban this kid already?

Good luck, never seen so many posts started with random crap and nothing done about it.... WELL the first 8-9 got locked on his other account DJFRANKE or whatever....

    • My guesstimate, with no real numbers to back it up, is it won't effect it greatly at all.its not a huge change in position, and I can't see the air flow changing from in turbulence that much based on distance, and what's in front of it. Johnny and Brad may have some more numbers to share from experience though.
    • Which solenoid? Why was it changed? Again, why was this done? ...well, these wear..but ultimately, why was it changed? Did you reset the idle voltage level after fitment? I'm just a tad confused ~ the flash code doesn't allude to these items being faulty, so in my mind the only reason to change these things, would be some drive-ability issue....and if that's the case, what was the problem? Those questions aside, check if the dropping resistor is OK ...should be 11~14 ohms (TCU doesn't throw a flash code for this) ~ also, these TCU designs have full time power (to keep fault code RAM alive), and I think that'll throw a logic code (as opposed to the 10 hardware codes), if that power is missing (or the ram has gone bad in the TCU, which you can check..but that's another story here perhaps).
    • Question for people who "know stuff" I am looking at doing the new intake like the one in the picture (the pictured is designed for the OEM TB and intake plenum), this design has the filter behind the front bar, but, the filter sits where the OEM duct heads into the front bar, and the standard aperture when the OEM ducting is removed allows the filter to pulled back out of the front bar into the engine bay for servicing, a simple blanking plate is used to seal the aperture behind the filter This will require a 45° silicone hose from the TB, like the alloy pipe that is currently there, to another 45° silicone hose to get a straight run to the aperture in the front bar Question: how will it effect the tune if I move the MAF about 100-150mm forward, the red is around where my MAF is currently, and the green would be where it would end up Like this This is the hole the filter goes through  Ends up like this LOL..Cheers
    • Despite the level up question, actually I do know what that is....it is a pressure sender wire.  So check out around the oil filter for an oil pressure sender, or maybe fuel pressure near the filter or on the engine. Possibly but less likely coolant pressure sensor because they tend to be combined temp/pressure senders if you have one. Could also be brake pressure (in a brake line somewhere pre ABS) but maybe I'm the only one that has that on a skyline.
    • Pull codes via the self-diagnosis procedure. As far as I can tell this is just a sign of transmission issues but not a code unto itself.
