whats the damage? my 34 was written off recently simply for the fact that they cannot source the parts or it costed too much to source the bits. I could have fixed it myself for about 2.5k. although I rekon my hit was at about 10-20 Ks. it still ran fine and was in mint condition but still written off.

Just re-read your post, if she hit you at 80KMPH, definate write off hands down. pics would be good too. where are you located?

Cannot see Pic yet Tara.

I presume you got rear-ended?

A write-off is more likely if you've been T-boned - due to rail & B-pillar damage > terminally lost

If your car has been rear-ended and it's scewed, a panelbeater with a robot can realign its configuration to near perfect.

But it'll depend too on how much your car is insured for Vs how much the repair will cost on your R33 GTS-T (give or take)...

I saw yr post after I wrote mine, sorry abt yr loss..Do u have any pic?

I still cant believe that mine is gone,I stand at the car, just staring at it...Had so much trouble, must b a vic thing, tow guy wanted cash on the spot,$260,I said i can pay by credit card, i wanted my car brought hm... He said nope cash only, took to depo and gave me a infor on my rights, which I read in da morning.. He was meant to accept card or aggree for me to pay later.. Rang vic roads, the guy and company got there ass kicked, and brought my car hm, i didt have to pay any towing...I grew up in syd, now in mel... It really suxs here...lots of sunday drivers...

We brought another car, ford xr6, but just not like a skyline, hate drivin it, and sooo many around..

nah man, I'm quite sure that would be a write off unless you are insured for about 10x the value. your front damage appears to be very similar to mine.

See attached. My car was insured at the exact value i got it for. repair bill JUST for that would have been well over $10K (as they said anyway, but another assessor on here has told me that it also depends on the repairer you go to, and that the one I went to was more of a General repairer. There was an import specialist like 30CM away that I could have went to and MAY have not got it written off).

Are u for really, maybe it will gt fixed... What should I put out? If I take the Stereo out,do I need to replace it..

As usual, i forget to attach photos. but uploading soon. Is your car insured for under or close to $10k?

Edit: Photo attached.

Also take out any non-standard bit if you can, swap the wheels with stock. I wouldn't go too far to mess with any mechanical though like your exhaust or whatever mods you got in your engine bay but

Thats a write off

You cant fart on the car without the damage exceeding the cars wholesale value

On a good note that looks like easy fix it was a pretty square hit so the unibody wouldnt be to far twisted , buy it back and redo it even better!!

Hi Tara,

Your accident reminds me of my accident a few years ago with my previous car. I was at the lights when out of no where a truck rear ended my car and pushed my car right into the 4wd in front of me. My cars ass was at least 4 feet in the air at the point of impact and i suffered some whiplash out of it. My damage was worse than yours, every single panel on the car was damaged, except for the doors, roof and left rear quarter. I still remember watching my car being towed away with the right rear wheel just barely dangling from the axle...

But here's the thing, my car actually got repaired. It wouldn't have been if it wasn't for my smash repairer (who was my family friend). My smash repairer dealt with every single part of the process (paper work, insurance, assessor etc.). The assessor kept saying to me that the car was a write off (because the value of the repairs (14k) exceeded the value of the car (12k)), he kept insisting that i receive the payout and scrap the car.But my family friend is a very sly dude and spoke his way to convincing the assessor, so i guess i got lucky

If you want pics i can send them to you

    • Yeah I suspect even if you hold airmass per cycle/cylinder constant if you get too far away from stock you're still going to have problems running the factory tune within the bounds of the factory load scale. Cams, different displacement/rod ratio, etc. I'm just lucky that the GTIII-SS with wastegate boost + CA compliance cats is pretty much equivalent to stock turbos. When I have actual space I can finally get it tuned and modify the fuel system for flex fuel to 100% handle any detonation concerns when cranking the boost to whatever those dinky turbos can put out.
    • I would say no, why, because my daughter, who also lives in Goulburn, hasn't recommended us going there Pity, as we miss all the German joints around in Sydney, actually, the restaurants are the only thing I really miss about Sydney, and a special mention to Ishibanboshi at Bondi Junction, their Kara-age Don is heart cloggingly deliciousness (always added a special boiled egg...or 2) 😋
    • Does that German restaurant still exist in the old place out the NW end of Goulburn? When I say "out the NW end of"...I am really being vague. It was 1997 when I was last there, and the only point of reference I can recall is that it was on the opposite side of the main drag from the big merino. And when I say "opposite side of the main drag", I don't mean "on the main drag". It was either a couple of streets back from there, or might have even been out in the sticks a bit further. Was an old farm building or mill or somesuch. And when I say "the big merino" I might actually be thinking of a completely different part of town, because I just looked on maps and the big bugger is not where I remembered him to be! The food was good, consisting largely of various German mystery-meat sausage/loaf things and kartofflen.
    • So while the second sentence is completely correct and the whole point of the conversation, the first sentence bears consideration. If this bloke is just hoping to throw big turbos on and drive it around, because there are no helpful facilities at all in his tropical paradise** then he likely has zero chance of even knowing what the TP is on the last column in the stock maps, let alone know whether the ECU is operating anywhere near it or past it. So the point is very very moot. And, per what I said before, at stock boost on those turbos, you may well be off the end of the map. **I'm just back from Vanuatu, so I know exactly what small Pacific nations can be like wrt paradise without requisite facilities. But it's not even that simple. I put a high flow on my car and had to drive it around with a proper tune because of the lack of opportunity*** to put the bigger AFM and injectors into it to allow it to be tuned. I had to turn the boost down to less than I had before, and back off the boost controller's ramp, because it was exploring parts of the map that it didn't drive in before, and really couldn't access for tuning on the dyno either, and so was pinging. It was still well within the last column, because when I first**** set up the Nistune on the Neo I rescaled all axes of the maps to give some more space to explore. ***Family dyno was broken ****This was 13 years ago, and the TIM thing wasn't a thing then and so TP would definitely grow when pushing past the stock tune's limits.
    • Yep, this bit another local owner. I caught it before putting the transmission back into the car, what I noticed was the pressure plate fingers weren't flat and even. It's more obvious with the pull style clutch because the throwout bearing ring was visibly not flat once everything is put together. Nismo should really update their instructions to call out this specific detail. I'm not even sure the clutch as-shipped orients everything properly.
