R34 Gtr Nismo Or Arc Radiators... Where Is Best To Source?

Recommended Posts

I'm updating the setup in my car again, and want to go for a nismo or arc radiator so as to better improve air flow through the front of the car. Also the Nismo parts always fit without having to modify anything. I believe ARC would be a close second.

Is there anywhere in australia that I can get a Nismo radiator?

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure ARC went to the wall during the GFC a couple of years back. :/

I've seen Nismo boxes waiting for pickup at my local Nissan dealer before; maybe try the dealer option?

What did you end up choosing, mate? I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that NISMO contracted ARC to produce their radiators and intercoolers.

I ended up not doing anything just yet, I've been working on a new engine setup over the past few months instead.

I have been toying with the idea of putting a thin stock R34 radiator back in there so as to retain the best possible airflow through the front of the car, and then put a rear mounted remote radiator in the car. If I do this it will be incorporated into an aluminium diffuser design that I am working on to protect it from stones etc.

I've heard that the Nismo is rather large and doesn't allow for good flow like the stock intercooler.

I don't know that to be factual information though.

Sent from my SC-03D

Yes the Nismo intercooler is larger (100mm), but a requirement if your aiming for over 450kw. They are a standard part on the ztunes though along with the 35mm core nismo radiator.

The key like all things is finding the correct balance (or compromise) so the cooling systems for air and coolant work optimal at all road speeds. Staying entirely nismo you at least get some piece of mind they have spent a few million on R&D to get that right.

Where as HKS/Tomei/Apexi etc aren't necessarily doing this. A focus on all out power with little thought or regard for longevity is quite often the focus of many tuners.

    • Hello, first of, I’ve looked at many threads on this code but none have helped me, if you know one that will help me feel free to post a link.   Now to my problem. Recently I was driving and noticed the check engine light came on. I went home and did the test to see what code it gave. I got the 21 code but everything seems fine with the car, no misfire, idle is good, acceleration is the same as when I bought it. I mean no signs of obvious failure. If no misfire is happening I can rule out the coil packs right? Which is about 98% of posts saying it is. If anyone has had this happen and found the issues let me know please. No other lights are on.   The car WAS due for an oil change. I since then changed it so idk if that triggers code 21. Either way it hasn’t turned off.
    • Your both right, it may hold a bit longer then.  Soon I need to change the synchros, should I fit the billet plate while I'm at it? Or just a waste of money?
