So, i've got some news about my gearbox. Turns out the pinion shaft snapped clean in half. This was a PAR item. I rang PAR today and they will warrant the pinion even though i have owned it for 18 months! They are a great company to deal with :)

I havent had a chance to upload that video, it will get posted up as soon as its up.

So because my pinion shaft snapped, PAR are going to make me another crown wheel and pinion.

They asked me if i would like to have a different ratio or am i happy with my current one?

Stock ratio is 4.176

My previous ratio was 4.43:1

This ratio will be 4.83:1

Should be a bit quicker then :)

It's a PAR

Well...this is Skylines Australia.

Just sayin'.

Yes it is, and this is the best car club in Australia to be associated with :)

It'll either be an S chassis (coz I like to stick with what I know 'SR20') or I've always loved the thought of an R chassis with a LS1 or similar.

  • 4 weeks later...

Haha, we'll see. Don't hold your breath though.

A bit of an update:

My crown wheel and pinion from PAR is going to be another 2 weeks, which doesnt bother me. It turned out he didn't have the size i wanted in stock like he originally thought.

Also i'll leave this here:

I paid for these yesterday, they will be getting shipped over from the U S of A this week some time.

4 into 1, 3" collector

Then i'll be looking at a 3" exhaust.

I'd just drill it out and tap ina 1/4" thread. No need for rocket surgery when the next most obvious thing will do. You could throw a 1/4 x 1/8 bush in there and use the same fitting you intended to use.
    • Is the only issue that the oil catch can is getting filled on hard runs? I'd be thinking more about oil control issues rather then the head lifting, especially as you aren't seeing spiking in the coolant pressure.  Do you need restrictors in the head, or better drains from the head? Does the sump need venting to the catch can?
    • Tried to make 1/8npt threads into compressor house of the turbo for my EBC. Threads got fu#ked and ended up with and elongated hole, so I do have good amount and nice threads 90% of the hole but 10% I only had 1-2threads there and rest of it is flush on that side of the hole.. So my idea is to do M12 x 1.25 to AN4 with braided lines instead of 1/8npt to 4mm vacuum silicone hose.  and hopefully get a better thread. M12 is quite big and AN4 is a little bit bigger than 4mm (4.9mm inner diameter braided PTFE hose). but this should work. Thoughts? Otherwise I will weld and adapter onto the turbo.
