Hey everyone,

I've posted some photos on this forum in the past from time to time but during that time i was driving a Holden Commodore so i didn't really find it necessary to make a build thread on JDMST considering its make and also the fact that it was pretty much just another commodore with p plates on it.

Now onto the good news!

On monday I bought a black 1989 HCR32 GTS-T 5 Speed with about 190,XXX on it and it's now sitting in my garage. It feels so good to finally own one! It's currently sitting unregistered but that will change within a week. I can get my full licence in less than a month so i'm giving myself that time limit to tidy her up and get it on the road. I'm still new to all of this so this car will be a good learning curve and i'm heaps keen to get into it!

Here's what it's got;

- Disco Potato

- 3" exhaust (i think) to a 4" tip

- 17" Enkei RP01s

- FMIC

- EBC

- Greddy Strut Brace + unknown brand rear strut brace

- Greddy Gauges

- Turbosmart V-Port 2 BOV

- Momo steering wheel

- GTR fiberglass front bar

and the bad bits;

- HICAS

- a 5c piece rust spot on the passenger side of the sunroof and a tiny bubble on the drivers side as well

- some slight blemishes in the paint

- the front bar is damaged on the front left and right hand side

- it's unregistered

- rear tyres need replacing

+ all the electronics work including the sunroof and the A/C works!

My plans within the next few months are;

- give her a full service + get a new set of tyres

- to remove the HICAS (already ordered a lock bar off GKTECH)

- replace the cannon with twin pipes

- fix up the rust

- Fortune Auto Coilovers off Philb

- change the BOV as this one is pretty loud and i'm guessing it's only a matter of time until i'm pulled over for it

- replace what needs replacing

and then after i've finished that and enjoyed the car for a bit, that's when i plan on beginning the power mods!

Here's a photo of how she looks in the garage.

Hope you enjoy the build thread!

for the rust spot you may want to see how bad it actually is. I put a new roof on mine and it had the same sized spot on it but from underneath it was the size of my hand. gut the headlinig and check it before you go any further.

excellent mate welcome to the world of imports! look forward to seeing good things from this car

whats your plans for the car?

Thanks mate.

Right now it's just to tidy her up and replace all the worn bits and just make she's running alright

I'm picking up a standard exhaust of a member here next week as well getting a new glovebox (handle on mine is broken), a standard gear knob + the leather surrounds for the gearstick and handbrake.

Also i'm getting pretty irritated with the Turbosmart V-Port BOV so i'm buying the HKS SSQV IV off an SAU member next week also and i'll change them over.

Over the weekend my plans are remove the HICAS and give it a full service, fit new tyres and also attempt to give the engine bay a tidy up. Then on monday its booked in for a blue slip inspection

I had my mate who is a panel beater come have a look at it and he told me the same thing, so when the car is on the road i'm going to take it into the shop he works at so we can talk about removing it.

I'm hoping it's not too bad.

look at the roof area. in this shot it is hard to see but there is a rust bubble there about the size of a 10c piece.

this is how I fixed it. hope that helps you. what are your sills like?

thanks for that, the sills are a bit worn. could do with replacing a little down the track but i'll get some up close photos soon to show you..

Unfortunately i had a pretty big weekend so wasn't feel well enough at all to get down and work on the car but in other news i dropped it off this morning to the mechanic and he gave me a small list of things that need to be replaced/added to get a blueslip and to get it on the road.

the list is;

- remove tint

- exhaust (standard one on the way, just need to pick it up this week)

- BOV (using a turbosmart v-port 2 and atmospheric BOVs are illegal)

- either source a standard air filter/box for the GTST or get someone to fab up an enclosure for the pod

- 2 new rear tyres

- gearbox oil leak so need to get that checked out

- front left tie rod end is stuffed so need to get a replacement.

if anyone can help me (either point me in the right direction or even have some parts lying around) with the above parts i'd really appreciate it!

Hey sorry haven't updated this in awhile.

Long story short it would be too difficult for me to fix this at this time so i sold it off and am going to get another car later on in the year when i have a bit more money to play around with and researched a lot more.

I got to keep a few of the bits that were on the car and also had some things i hadn't got around to installing so the following are now up for sale

- Genuine GT-R front bar (unused, still have it as i bought it as the car died before i fit it) $600

- R32 N1 Spec GT-R front bar (fibreglass) with some damage. (Black) $150

- R32 GTS-T Front Tie Rod Ends $50 for both

- 17" 5 stud Enkei RP01s with brand new tyres $600

- HICAS Lock Bar (Unused) $80

- Kakimoto 3 1/4" mild steel Catback exhaust to a 4 1/4" stainless steel tip. (never got a chance to install it) $250

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
