Booked the SkyWagon in for Rego re-inspect and wheel alignment for Wednesday...

Reattached the Passengers Rear view mirror after doing the Superglue Repairs to the mounts.

Also Received and installed a Brand New Clutch Fan in SkyWagon. Much Quieter now. :D

Very glad I did this as on Removal of the old fan, I discovered that there are cracks at the base of every single blade.

Just a matter of time before she went kablamo!!! :O

Started the stripping down.

Skirts, pods, doortrims, mirrors, doorsills and seal gone.

Got to take off the rear bar and wing, then i can wash everything.

Im going to try black in the doorgaps and under the boot, its already under the bonnet and in the engine bay.

That way i dont have to do so many coats where its going to be a pain, eliminate runs, also i can leave the doors, bonnet and boot on.

Also all the "utility areas" like in the wheel arches and underneath will be black.

"Raceday" bits will also be black: vented bonnet and guards, diffusers (gotta make em first) and a big wing.

Ps: Thats like my old Celica, thanks Hotwheels.

same colour too.

did some brain surgery on my speakers ( Trojan broke them ) they are workingnow, tho cant put them in the parcel shelf, any ideas? maybe fiberglass them in the boot somewhere with the sub?

just made a template for putting the speakers on the battery cover thing, worked well... until I put the speakers in not knowing that the shelf for the battery is a lot higher then I thought.... turned out the speakers wont go there

Your in luck I have a magnetic snapon tool used for removing the collets.I used it when I was changing the stem seals makes it easy.

Also with the nitto head drain have you tapped it into the Welsh plug or removed it completely. Are you locating the drain pipe to the exhaust side of the sump or intake side.? Did you also put the restrictor on the block.

The nitto head drain requires you to remove the welsh plug and drill and tap the head. I did do the restrictors as per the oil control thread and opened up the head and block oil drains. Not sure on valve springs yet.

Took my car out for a drive and i got break down on tuggeranong parksway. got it towed home and started working on it

so now the car will be off the road for a while, lucky the rego is expiring next week

Water pump is leaking as the bolts are the otherway around

My power steering oil line was leaking for a while and all the oil were on the air con compressor as its right under the power steering pump, so today it started burning the oil and smoked heaps when drove the car with air con was on max for a while as it was not blowing cold air. Also the air con compressor is making a lot of noise. need to be replaced.

going to do the timing belt as well with the water pump (100k service)

Put my plazmaman intake, throttle body and z32 AFM then get it tuned.

    • I've looked up the parts number (41011AL501). It's around $700 OEM. Usually our Infiniti G35 here in Canada have interchangeable parts with my Stagea but the parts number are not the same. I have looked around and it seems the JDM 2005 V35 Skyline (which is the same as our G35) has the same caliper but I cannot confirm. And I can't find a repair kit. The inner brake pads drags on the rotor, seems to be rusty piston. Thanks for the info by the way
    • This coupled with 6-9 speed autos with ridiculously short gearing is why these modern shitbox cars always seem so fast off the line. If it wasn't for those things, Raptors would not seem fast. The problem we have is there is a driveability gap between a more gentle take off and a wheelspinning sideways launch. The difference between ankle flex required to achieve one and ankle flex required to achieve the other is about 0.5°.
    • Yeah I think I'm also with the opposite here. It's 'hard to keep up with traffic' because in the real world I'm accelerating with 15% throttle and they are pinning it. It feels like I'm being an overt dickhead at anything above 15% throttle, so the car sounds like I'm being an overt dickhead to keep up with/get ahead of traffic when I'm really just trying to drive with traffic. There would be no issue 'keeping up with traffic' if we used the same level of throttle input/aggression to drive around. People really do just drive around with their foot nearly pinned in econoboxes.
    • To be fair it's the other way around. 300kw is boring in a modern Golf or BMW. They are so competent / well-engineered / devoid of emotion that you have to go stupid fast to feel anything. Whereas the <300kw RB still makes all the right noises and it feels good to drive. Can pull off at the lights with the turbo whooshing and the blow-off pssshing and feel like the coolest kid on the block. Just don't look to the side where you'll see the bored housewifes in their shitbox Yaris/Corolla/Camry that kept up because you didn't go fast at all
    • 300kW is so boring in a Skyline, you'll get spanked by someone's mum's Golf with Alibaba pipes, and an email tune.
