Just thought i would let everyone know that last night i only got 4 runs because it was busy as.

But I just want everyone know what I got with what mods so that people can see what is possible, because when i first got my car i thought it wouldnt be.

Anyways I'll write down the mods that would have an impact on my time, compared to stock.

500hp Clutch

235/45/17s

Turbosmart Bleed Valve (10psi)

Pod Filter

Iridium IX Plugs (Gap 0.8)

Cat-Back Exhaust (with STOCK cat)

Front/Dump Pipe

With those mods plus some suspension and crap like that i ran a

13.892 @ 102.85mph

60' @ 2.273 (shit time, i can do a 2.11)

so there is a possiblity for a 13.7 if i can do another 2.11 60' time and pull it all together, but my "drag" tyres were running a bit on the bald side.

Just thought i would let everyone know that a 13 is very very possible with light mods.

Good stuff.

I ran 13.8's back in the old gtst days with very little done as well. At this time people on the WA forum were telling me I couldn't run a 13.

3 inch Exhaust (standard cat)

10psi bleeder.

Pineapples, they only cost $100 odd and are a 10min job to fit.

I did mine on a 38deg C day though, on 205's with about 100kgs of work stuff in the car

You couldn't have asked for a better night to race in terms of air quality. Very cold and reasonably dry air, excellent for making power.

I think you have further shown how these cars don't like to be 'riced'. Simple little efficiency mods are all you need. Mid 13's are not hard to get either and you certainly don't need a front mounted intercooler. I think the vast majority of the front mounted cooler brigade in R33s with factory turbos are still stuck in 14's, where they belong. :D

Fane - Don't forget... You had thermal wrap on the intercooler return pipe too :) Big win :) (must do that soon)

Just to give everyone another example that 13's can be had with mild mods....

I did 13.96 @ 101.8mph, 2.265 60' with.....

Xtreme Ceramic clutch (Auto-clutch special :))

235/45/17s

EBC @ 9psi

POD Filter

NGK Copper Plugs @ 0.8

Cat-back exhaust (STOCK 2.25" cat) *cough*

Just a front pipe, Stock Dump.

Oh yeah, Nismo coilover suspension (hard as hell)

At this point the car was running rich as hell, as it had No AFCII at the time...flamethrowing on every gear change *drool*

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
