Hey all,

I have a good one for all the investigators out there. I’m trying to get my hands on a replacement rubber seal for the below pictured “Hella” side indicators on an R32 GTR. I've attached some images...

I have found several numbers on the lamp however sadly according to Hella they have been manufactured specifically for a car manufacturer and they are unable to tell me which one *facepalm*. These lamps would have been fitted during compliance and I can see a date of 2005. Numbers below;

1. On the side there is a "Hella" paper sticker. Code: D27691 Date: 23NOV05.

2. Pressed into the rear side of the light I can see: 81730YC020

3. Pressed into the clip of the light I can see: B1730 YA020

I have also spoken with Nissan and they are able to replace the whole lamp with the ones that came on the Australian Delivered R32s however the issue I have is two part;

1. The lamp offered by Nissan appear to be a different shape looking at the Australian Delivered examples on the Forum and may not fit into the existing hole in the fender (really don’t want to cut any metal for the sake of replacing a rubber seal)

2. They a pretty pricy and would much rather just get a replacement seal

If anybody knows where I can get my hands on a replacement seal I’m more than happy to buy you a six pack :cheers:

Cheers lads,

Sean

Why don't you just go to Clark rubber and buy a sheet of suitable thickness high density foam or rubber, a steady hand and a craft knife would get you around the mystery?

You're right! They look identical the to the ones I had on my 1993 Lexus ls400. I knew I had seen them before.

From memory they are also on a certain model corolla - cant remember which one.

Edit: false alarm....they're not the same I checked.

Thanks for the info guys, I'll try Toyota on Monday morning to see if they are able to track those numbers

I've tried all the usual sources like Bursons, SuperCheap, AutoBarn, internet searching etc

I'll let you know how it goes

Cheers,

Sean

Hey all,

So turns out the indicators were off a Toyota Camry 36 series

Toyota side indicator

I've ordered a pair and I'll let you know how the install goes when I pick them up next weekend

Cheers,

Sean

Hey all,

Just to keep you in the loop how the search is going. I went down to Toyota today to pick up the lamp but sadly there were two issues;

1. The colour was incorrect (admittedly the bloke was unable to confirm the colour, worth a shot though)

2. The lamp does have a rubber seal but it's different from the other one already on the car and appears to be the same "thin" rubber seal that broke last time (not really interested in using it)

I brought the parts guy out to the car to show him exactly what type of rubber seal I was after but he was unsure.

After a bit of hunting around in their system I suggested maybe a Toyota Starlet had the correct seal (I saw one at the shops the other day and both the lamp and seal looked very similar to what I was after).

Luckily for the Starlet lamp I'm able to buy the rubber seal separately which is good considering the lamp for the Camry I won't be using and hopefully some bloke will buy it on Ebay :rolleyes:

I'll give you all an update once the Starlet seal comes in,

Cheers,
Sean

Personally I'd have done this^ Likely they would have given you an off cut for nothing.

2nd choice would have been replace with Nismo R34 side winkers.

However it looks like your almost sorted :thumbsup:

    • ok so if i wanted to go 18's i would go for 8's  in front 30+ or 32+ off set at front and the back 9 would be ok? what offset should i aim for.. then can i do some  hunting for wheel rim choices..    If i get this - will this fit all around: Size: 18 x 8.5 +37 - n what tyres size tyre should i get for front n back?
    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
