B-rice
Im in the middle of changing my timing belt and cant remove the drive belt, alternator and P/S. Is there a certain sequence of going about this because i keep tightening the belt but the reverse is doing nothing at all. Iv undone the hinge bolt pictured in the second picture. The two bolts im confusing of their functon are in the first picture.Ive undone the short belt, and tightned the long one and it pulls the alternator back essentially tigthening it. Help want to finihs this early if possible. so i managed to take the alternator belt off by removing the water pump pulley. Anyone know where the hinge bolt for removing the A/C, Power steering is?Would undoing the tensioner circled loosen the power steering? GTR_JOEY
I'm not familiar with 34s but from that picture it looks like the power steering and ac compressor belts are desperate.. Your power steering should pivot closer to the block so you can remove the belt That idler you have circled should be able to be loosened by the front bolt Not sure why you couldn't get the alternator belt off.. It's just a matter off loosening off the two bolts in the picture as well as the bolt that it pivots on.. To make them tight again use a lever bar to get tension Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/420650-removing-drive-belts/#findComment-6765790 Share on other sites
RB25DETC33
To remove the power steering belt, loosen the 12mm tensioning nut below the pump on the right hand side. (on a long thread). Take the nut 3/4 of the way down the thread not off. slacken the tensioning thread which is the 12mm bolt pretty much below the pump(follow that long thread back to the underside of the pump) the bolt sits the the adjustment slot. slacken the 14 mm nut above the pump behing the wheel, can be seen in you pic. once these are slack push the pump downwards and you belt will be ready to pull off To do up again: Fit belt Pull pump up the take the tension Tighten the tension thread bolt Tighten up the tensioning nut on the long thread and tighten to the required deflection. Tighten the 14mm bot above the pump. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/420650-removing-drive-belts/#findComment-6765871 Share on other sites
RB25DETC33
Th alternator is essentially the same there will be the two bolts that are used to tension and 1 bolt to anchor the hinge. Undo the nut the nut that looks like its going through the long tensioning bolt. Undo the bolt that anchors the hinge (stops you from moving the alternator Undo the tensioning bolt the alternato should loosen up. AngryRB
I just did this whole process on the weekend twice but that was on an r33, so to add to the above, theres two bolts for each, you want to loosen both of them, so both bolts turn anticlockwise, its the long threaded bolts that help to do the final tensioning by tightening them. the A/C BOLT is under the bottem pully wheel, so have to get under car to see it. when reasembling it, make sure the timing belt cover is on properly and firmly or else it will rub on the harmonic balancer and sound terrible. B-rice
ahhh i just finished it and starts again. Might give the belt some run in time. No flogging it for about 500kms or more. Thanks for the help now I need to do something a little harder than this Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/420650-removing-drive-belts/#findComment-6766276 Share on other sites
