Hey guys I want to gather some knowledge about putting and R33(rb25det) engine into my R32 gtst .

Would the 32 stock gear box run fine with the 33 engine , what would I have to look into or change along with the engine ? Would it be worth the conversion ?

Any info, tips or help would be Much appreciated :)

Regards , Michael

Actually the forum is for accumulating relevant information to help everyone. It's useless having 300 different threads all about the same thing, forcing people to read too far and wide for one thing and forcing others to answer the same questions over and over.

If we keep everything in one thread we can make it easy to find information and most people will probably find that their questions are already answered.

I've got a stock Rb25det with a stock RB20det gearbox.

FMIC, exhaust, pod, 10psi boost, good clutch.

no broken box yet... but I'm not out thrashing the crap out of it.

I reckon that a stock turbo'd RB25det will not break an RB20 box.

with my conversion we used a Stock RB25det ecu which required some wiring work.

there is some work required with the heater hoses at the back of the engine and fire wall area.

Other than that it's all smooth torquey sailing.

Should clarify I wasn't recommending doing it ^ The 20 box is sloppy as all hell, I hate them.

But considering you can't really sell them off for much, I'd say it's more worthwhile to run them into the ground behind the 25 and THEN switch to the 25 box.

For the record the RB20 box is no different to the CA18, SR20, RB30ET etc..

There are plenty of people out there with big power SR's who run the stock box, they aren't tooth picks waiting to snap.. Just need to treat it right.

For myself I will probably look for a billet gearset when the time comes as the money on a second hand RB25 box conversion rivals the cost... And I would much rather have a rebuilt billet box than an old sloppy RB25 box.

Wow 6k I would rather buy a 32 GTR , yeah everything box engine bla bla , I seen a 33 engine close to my area a while back for $1300 , don't know if it includes everything ...

When I am shopping Around for engines what do I have to make sure it comes with , so I don't have any stuff arounds

well it depends on your aspects but you would want a complete Rb25

RB25 (series 1 or 2) 2 has vct! ensure it comes with manifold, wiring loom and ecu. that will get you out of trouble. While its out change heater hoses and put in a new rear main seal and things like that to save you the trouble later when its running.

the rest of the cost will come from things like wiring under the dash as its slightly different etc....if you are not running with a gear box change you could prob pull it in for 3k or so

Mine cost $3500 limp in, skid out.

That was, stock series 1 RB25det, new radiator and hoses, stock series 1 RB25DET ECU, new oil/filter/coolant/spark plugs.

We re-used my good coil packs

Engine was $1500 to buy from a wrecker with 3 months warranty.

ECU was $200

Radiator and hoses was about $200

oil/filter/coolant/plugs was say another $100

So about $1500 for a workshop do do it all.

If you're in Brisbane you can have a drive.

The place where you start burning money in this sort of thing is where you're making decisions on what you are happy to live with after the conversion. Things like - do I want to keep the 20 year old air-con compressor, or do I want to put the new one that came with the engine? If the hoses are different (and they are between RB20 and Neo) then a few hundred goes west right there. Same with power steering.

And the same with the things that people like to freshen up. Water pumps, timing belts, oil seals, water hoses, etc etc. They all add up.

    • I can ship Nismo floor mats to you: https://www.oemsoko.co.jp/products/nismo-floor-mats-for-skyline-r33-bcnr33-stagea-wgnc34?_pos=1&_sid=9278c1467&_ss=r
    • Here's the link: https://www.amayama.com/en/genuine-catalogs/epc/nissan-japan/stagea/wgnc34/6642/misc/G49?frame_no=WGNC34-137122 What you think about it? The same product i found on nengun: https://www.nengun.com/oem/parts/40567/MiPwn5qAMfCfmpxHNDnwn5q9MDAx8J-QiW9sZC1qcC0xMTAtRzQ5LS0wMDE/Floor+Carpet+%2F+Mat+2/0688339eba149c19 Bot i have spoken to 😅 ensured me, that mats are 100% original, oem product. I have my doubts. I also heard what you mentioned, that nengun often offers items that are actual not available... On the other hand mats i found on japanese yahoo or ebay are in poor condition and still quite expensive so i'd rather wait for some better offers. My location - Poland. We literaly don't have ANY market for used Stagea parts so need to search outside Europe.
    • You can’t see much on the other side as the lcd is there I don’t think it’s the same as the m33 beside it as the markings on top is not the same was hoping someone had a good quality photo or if they just happened to have the unit in hand, quickly take the cover off and take a photo to clearly show the marking on top to identify the diode   the unit is currently with an electronics repair shop so I can’t take another photo at the moment hopefully they are smart enough to know if it’s a zener diode or not
    • I'd be very surprised if you can buy new OEM mats. But if you can, I want some too!  Do you have links to the variations you found? Also, where are you located? I found that Nengun is happy to list items to purchase but when you do buy them you'll get an email that it's actually discontinued. As far as I know the variations in floor mats are different colour schemes as well as automatic and manual having a slightly different shape. The automatic ones fit into a manual car without issues, but I think you'd have trouble fitting the other way around. I have photos that show the shape difference if you care. FWIW I bought sets of used floor mats in decent condition at yahoo auctions.
    • Hi 🙋‍♂️. Just bought my Unicorn but the interior need some minor work so it would match my expectations ;). I noticed it is hard to get used oem floor mats in good condition so i started to dig if there's any chance to buy set of new ones. I found two websites - nengun and amayama and it looks like one can still buy factory new floor mats in Japan, but thers a small issue. Some mats (i assume genuine, oem ones) are marked as G4900 and these are "discontinued". The ones you can buy are marked as G4911 but i have no idea if these are also oem, made by other producer or some lower quality replacements that looks entirely different. Can anyone help? 😃  P.s. there is also some strange indication - 0V005, 0V015 and 0V505. Any idea what does it mean? Would appreciate any help with this 🙏
