Hey guys,

Went missing in the Moonee Ponds area, in the early hours of 1/05/13.

Reward paid for information leading to an arrest.

If you see any of the Stag specific parts:

Dolphin body kit,

double hinge center console,

rB25Det bolted to a 4wd hicas box.

Will repost in the skyline forum as well.

Still had the baby seat in it and some toys.

Give me a heads up by:

PM or

[email protected]

Cheers,

Mely

Post up a pic; maybe with the numberplate.

A pic will jog memories much better than text.

Best of luck cobber, hope it turns up undamaged.

Hey Dude, i live in Moonee Ponds, amongst all the euro sports cars the stageas stand out... seen a heap of grey and black, yet to see a white one though

Photos and rego would help alot otherwise its just another Stagea

Wasnt expecting this... but we got it back!

Police were chasing him in association with credit card fraud apparently.

Drivers door lock and ignition barrel broken (can open/start with a teaspoon) The Hicas & ABS fuses were pulled, the handbrake stretched to the stop, the gearbox was really tight, now its pretty sloppy and he put 4,500 km on it in 3 weeks! Front and rear bars trashed, tore the airbox out, changed the BOV for a noisy one (left the stock one in the wheel well) stole the spare, changed the rear rims (now not matching, were stock nissan) and tore the center console out. The power steering pump is howling now too.

Baby seat gone, my kids toys and books all gone, seat covers gone, maccas in the passenger footwell, ashtray full (in 3 weeks!?)

But, it drives, and apart from the headlight its roadworthy. Probably needs brake pads and a clutch pretty soon.

Wasnt expecting a happy ending to this story, should have it cleaned up over the weekend if I can find the parts.

Cheers fellahs,

Mely

Good to hear you have it back, but make sure you haven't got back a shitbox. 4500km is plenty of time to wreck a car.

I'd be getting a trusted specialist to go right through it; to ensure you don't end up footing a bill for thrash related repairs down the track.

Complete fluid flush (diffs, gearbox, coolant, engine oil, brake/clutch fluid etc), and a full going over.

Hope they catch the f**ker.

From what I can glean, I suspect that your car was used in or groomed for a robbery/ram raid.

Have you got any speeding tix in the mail yet?

As Daleo and OS80RN alluded to, everything needs to be checked out. The gearbox condition indicates a thrashing.

Hey stagnuts,

Checked my recipts, he only put 1200k on it. I thought it went out with 87,200k on it, but it was 89,200k.

Yeah, look i got it with 75,000 on it from Japan. The car was like new. The gearbox makes no noise and its not popping out, its just not as tight as it was...

Yeah, they caught the guy, his mobile number is on the back window under "for sale" in paint pen... The detective is away, I will see what I can get back when she gets back to work. My insurance got sent to my old work address, I was 10 weeks uninsured, so that's all I can do to get cash back.

Will chase down the parts (Passenger side light, locks, change BOV) and fluids (Box, engine, brakes) and do a better job of the immobilizer to get it moving for the Mrs and my bub. Probably pull it off the road in a month and do the brake pads, handbrake cable, diffx2 oil and clutch. Nice to have would be matching rims, it has 3x different kinds of rims on it at the moment and i might put on a carton and get the boys around to do some lazy BBQ, beers and fiberglassing on the bars...

Keep you updated,

Mely

    • It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about. Reliability of everything in a 34 drops MASSIVELY above the 300kw mark. Keeping everything going great at beyond that value will cost ten times the $. Clutches become shit, gearboxes (and engines/bottom ends) become consumable, traction becomes crap. The good news is looking legalish/actually being legal is slighly under the 300kw mark. I would make the assumption you want to ditch the stock plenum too and want to go a front facing unit of some description due to the cross flow. Do the bends on a return flow hurt? Not really. A couple of bends do make a difference but not nearly as much in a forced induction situation. Add 1psi of boost to overcome it. Nobody has ever gone and done a track session monitoring IAT then done a different session on a different intercooler and monitored IAT to see the difference here. All of the benefits here are likely in the "My engine is a forged consumable that I drive once a year because it needs a rebuild every year which takes 9 months of the year to complete" territory. It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about with this car.
    • By "reverse flow", do you mean "return flow"? Being the IC having a return pipe back behind the bumper reo, or similar? If so... I am currently making ~250 rwkW on a Neo at ~17-18 psi. With a return flow. There's nothing to indicate that it is costing me a lot of power at this level, and I would be surprised if I could not push it harder. True, I have not measured pressure drop across it or IAT changes, but the car does not seem upset about it in any way. I won't be bothering to look into it unless it starts giving trouble or doesn't respond to boost increases when I next put it on the dyno. FWIW, it was tuned with the boost controller off, so achieving ~15-16 psi on the wastegate spring alone, and it is noticeably quicker with the boost controller on and yielding a couple of extra pounds. Hence why I think it is doing OK. So, no, I would not arbitrarily say that return flows are restrictive. Yes, they are certainly restrictive if you're aiming for higher power levels. But I also think that the happy place for a street car is <300 rwkW anyway, so I'm not going to be aiming for power levels that would require me to change the inlet pipework. My car looks very stock, even though everything is different. The turbo and inlet pipes all look stock and run in the stock locations, The airbox looks stock (apart from the inlet being opened up). The turbo looks stock, because it's in the stock location, is the stock housings and can't really be seen anyway. It makes enough power to be good to drive, but won't raise eyebrows if I ever f**k up enough for the cops to lift the bonnet.
    • There is a guy who said he can weld me piping without having to cut chassis, maybe I do that ? Or do I just go reverse flow but isn’t reverse flow very limited once again?
    • I haven’t yet cut the chassis, maybe I switch to a reverse flow. I’ve got the Intercooler mounted as I already had it but not cut yet. Might have to speak to an engineer
    • Yes that’s another issue, I always have a front mount, plus will be turbo plus intake will big hasstle. I’ve been told if it looks stock they’re fine with it by a couple others who have done it ahahaha.    I know @Kinkstaah said the stock gtt airbox is limiting but I might just have to do that to avoid a defect so it atleast looks legit. Or an enclosed pod so it’s hidden away and feed air from the snorkel and below Intercooler holes like kinstaah mentioned. Hmm what to do
