The restrictor is not going into this motor.
This GTR is getting rebuilt stock.
Just so she runs and looks good.

The restrictor is part of the "I'm going to build a power house when I am not poor anymore." engine project.
lol

But if I do build a solid engine it's going to comprise of this:
NISMO oil pump.
TOMEI metal gasket kit.
33 crank.
ARP main studs and head studs.
ACL big end kit.
Tomei sump baffle.
Poncam Series 2.
Adjustable cam gears
Full HKS turbo kit + manifold etc.

Basically a standard 450 whp build.
I wont build it though.
I can fix stuff, but I can't do all the gapping, etc that specialised engine builders can.
Scared of busting my hard earned cash. Rather let croydon racing do the hard work. lol

Very true.

But is it worth running the GTR on the street for normal driving with the restrictor and extended sump?
Do I need an upgraded pump if I do put the restrictor in?

Will it screw up the engine if it is not a built motor?

I can't afford a new motor upfront, and already had half the stuff anyway.

It's going to be stock as.

What do you suggest I do to add on it?
Not looking for power, just want a nice reliable driver.
No hard launches etc on the stock motor.

I WILL build a monster eventually, RB30 block, etc.

I was thinking Genuine parts rebuild like I am doing.
But should I put the restrictor in with the stock pump and stock sump?

So - today I started really getting into it, got the aircon out, etc.

So anyway.
I was told there was a little oil in the radiator fluid, but there wasn't too much.

HAHAHA.
LOLNO.

There was a LITTLE BIT of WATER in the OIL in the RADIATOR.

Still draining.
:-|
Slimy brown sludge. Yeeeaaaaw!

BHG for sure.

I figure seeing as I have no job I'll pull the hard yeards and see it through during the nights due to looking for jobs and calling around during the day.

So here we go...

Front bar off, the number plate bracket bolt was rusted in, drilled it out re-tapped it, and got back to the hard stuff.

Ah well, free adjustable cam gears. XD

No baffles, nothing. I am disappointed. :-(

Uh, was attached to the horn loom.
Temp sensor of some kind?

Looks slimy.

Old and wrinkly.
lol.

So - now I'm sure it is a blown head gasket, or someone has filled the radiator with baby rear end stuff... >.>

More insight into this GTR.

Took the aircon condenser out, slowly removing the lines, working my way to the pump.
Put the front member back in with horns etc.

WHAT IS THIS? I think it's a temp sensor? am I right?

So yeah, more things I can't afford to do.
If anyone knows anyone hiring in the north shore, short term, part time etc, looking for minimum of 500 a week.
Please guys, If I get a job I owe whoever gets me one a case of beer of their choice.

:worship:

I have my whitecard, I'm a tyre fitter, can easily adapt to any kind of manual work, did playground construction, and some wood bolster barbed wire fencing.

Short term or long term, just need a job now.
I haven't gotten around to getting my forklift licence yet, but I know how to drive one. lol
If you can help, big thanks ahead of it man. :-)

Back the the GTR.
It had THREE alarm systems in it.

lolwhut
All were hooked up too. haha.
Anyway, all of them are out, making a switch board where the ash tray was and moulding it in, RWD toggle switch, Electric fans toggle switch, Heater bar switch, Ignition switch (cuts the main line on the Start on the column so the switch needs to be on to start the car, which is hooked to a clutch mechanism so the clutch must be in to start also, seeing as I can't trust alarms since the last one failed, I know it all seems stupid to do this, but it'll make sense later down the track.) So yeah....
Four switches I want for no good reason basically. lol.
And I moved the lighter socket to the centre console to charge phones, etc.
I don't want cables everywhere...
:whistling:

OK, GOOD NEWS.
I got a job in the city.

Bad news - I'm fitting exotic tyres and run flats.

Good news - I get 25 bux an hour.

Bad news - I work four and a half days a week.

Good news - I get time to work on the GTR.

Bad news - still on about the same wage due to day pay as last job.

:-\

Got a job though.
Still kickin'.
:-D

    • I know people cry at the price of the Getrag 12-14k for a conversion now, but it really is a nice mid point. Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
