Congrats Chinny!!! You'll love it

Maybe I will paint mine pink - nah, just kidding, there are about 8 black ones that I know of and see around the traps, not all members here though.

there is one less black gtt on the roads, see other thread in vic section.

I see a black gtt with gold wheels parked opposite rmit swanston st quite regularly, no other noticable mods though.

hahah :D Never seen the black one at RMIT, altho, i'm not there a lot :)

Use to see a black one parked on Beach rd, just a little bit down from 'The Stokehouse' a fair bit. Use to have gold rims, but now has black P1? Buddy club rims. Haven't seen it for a while tho...

So you bog the holes up, then paint over them? Wouldn't that mean the whole qtr panel needs to be sprayed cos you could tell where you painted? Know anyone who could bog it up for me?

guess i should go update my profile! :D yay! lifes little pleasures...

one other thing, do both the rear afterburners light up when you have your front lights on? Or is one only for braking?

cheers

Adz - I was watching the "making of" DVD for GT4 last night and the R34 they have in that has only the large outter lights are coming on under braking so whom ever told me that this was changed under complience was full of :bs!:

only in the 32's are the lights snipped during compliance. the 34 only has one pair lit, there's no snipping involved. 34 and 33 lights are left as is. The only reason 32's are snipped is so that they comply with the production 100 or so taht was sold here.

i've seen more than 5 r33's with the lights snipped on the road and i doubt two globes have gone at the same time....also some videos i have seen from jap and the uk the r34 gtr's...some have both lights comming on and some dont..this is without the headlights on :) so dunno what the story is :)

those holes should be easy to fix up with bog.

as for the colours, the original nissan colours were made by dupont, so using the dupont colour composition codes I should theoretically be able to get an authorised reseller of dupont paints to mix up the correct batch innit? only prblem is it dosen't give me concentrations etc, so if they thinned out one layer etc you wouldn't know until you tried it on the car hey?

Ummm sorry munkey but i wouldnt be putting bog in it....i would be welding the holes and in regards to the colours if i had a new car and got it mixed it wouldnt be right, and we havent even talked about sunfade, previous repairs ect on the used cars that we all drive. Also the factory paint is High bake paint,a diffrent system all together, its not available anywhere and if you got it you wouldnt be able to use it properly....

Would it be hard to make all 4 lights come on when braking, AND when you don't have your parkers/lights on? Hard to wire that up?

its an easy mod to do....just fit a double fillement globe and socket to the tail lamp

oh kool, so many things to do ONCE the car is regoed! :)

if you welded the holes up troy, would u then have to strip back/respray the entire quarter panel? they are definitely going to be filled up somehow. Do you think it would stuff up compliance if i got it fixed before vehicle inspection and put a stock spoiler back on? The stock rear spoiler wouldn't be a problem, but i'm not sure if a little fix up like repair the holes would be...

i'm guessing this is a fairly expensive process to fix what's left behind from the rear wing?

cheers

Troy do u think that kit is going to be a problem for compliance? It's a factory kit, but i've just been talking to Dean over at www.upimports.com.au and he said i could have a lot of trouble with it??

you have any thoughts bout it? It definitely is a Nissan kit, just not made by them, but came from the factory like that.

that's what i was saying to Dean, but i was missing the point. That being, doesn't really matter if it's factory, cos the original car the was crashed and engineered (the first R34) was most prob bog stock. Meaning there is no engineering evidence for the kit on the car. Dean was saying things like the rear wing being a hindrance to... f*ck it, i'll just paste in what he said. He explained it really well.

first post:

hi,

that kit will not pass compliance, i doubt anyone will do the required engineering for a kit, if its factory fitted by nissan its a possibility, but for a kit that is supplied to a car as an accessory will not pass.

there are specific guide lines as to how a car should appear and bodykits factory fitted or otherwise will not be allowed, if it was a normal compliance car, its possible to do, but as a sample car that inspectors are going to crawl over, they will pick it and it will become a discussion item that u will have to prove is factory fitted and does meet all the adr requirements, which u wont be able to do.

there are a number of reasons why a kit wont pass and just a few would be.

rear spoiler will impede the view through the rear window, front spoiler may affect air bag deployment and side skirts will change the height of the vehicle from the road, all these specs have to be supplied with the engineers reports.

stereo systems dont affect adrs.

second post:

your missing the point, when an engineer does all the testing for a particular vehicle, it is generally a bog stock car.

if your car is not identical to the engineered vehicle, it simply wont pass.

everything on a r34 that does not meet adrs has to be modified to meet adrs, the spoiler etc wont have engineering evidence and without it, it wont comply.

put simply there are 2 sample vehicles, the first one the engineer does all the testing on and then your car, your car must be identical in virtually every way to the original engineers test car.

oh kool, so many things to do ONCE the car is regoed! ;)

Theres a few ways of going about it,if it was mine i would weld the holes, tap it up nice, file it and blend the colour into the 1/4 panels and clear the two 1/4 panels, roof and the A pillars that way it would look untouched.you could blend the paint out through the roof somewhere but being black it would look milky in the

blend out area.I could do it to a car and you wouldnt notice but i couldnt do it to someones car coz i would notice!!!!!

heheh, i'm sure i couldn't tell even if i had the hubble telescope, knowing the work that you do. ;)

did u read my post about the kit being a problem for compliance? i'd like to know what you think about that. I thought it would be ok, like shan, cos it was factory. But apparently it's more dependant on engineering evidence, rather than whether it's factory or not.

we'll just have to make you forget you did it troy.

dean does have a point about your car being the sample car. if it was a car that was goin for a regular compliance it would be OK, but I just realised that you were gettin a compliance as part of some raws approval or something aren't you? They might be more stringent. Either way, it dosen't hurt to give it to em like that. I'll give you my original of the catalogue as well, in case you need to prove to em it came from factory like that. If the compliance centre dosen't wanna risk it they'll return your car to stock before the engineer scrutineers it.

Basically your job is to get them a car, they'll sort out the rest, which is why you're gettin it for free, coz at the end of the day, it IS a major hassle.

#1 The wing is poo and reeks hardcore

#2 I cant see a hassle with the front bar because it has the original indicators in it doesnt it?If any body say any crap about the airbag its depleted by the sensor in the centre of the console not by any thing else however i am under the understanding that the vehicle has to be identical to any of the other vehicles that will be done under this RAW so i would assume that they would want a standard vehicle...the height may be an issue and as you been told its not what you say or prove with brochure ect to DOTARSEHOLE its what the evidence pakage says.

    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
