Hey guys I have done a man conversion in my car and I put a r34 turbo on while the motor was out all is good but today I tried to give the big girl a bit more boost and up to 0.5 bar was all it would take builds that fast and holds no lroblems but nothing more I know the turbosmart boost tee was working as it came from my working car set to 9psi

I have looked over it all and am kinda scratching my head any suggestions before I rip the turbo off ?

I wouldn't start pointing the finger at the turbo..well just yet at least, sounds more like a incorrect signal connection somewhere (vacuum lines).

Try this (will give you an answer straight up), hook up an aftermarket boost gauge, disconnect your vac line going towards you're actuator completely, go for a spin, put your foot down and KEEP YOUR EYE ON THE BOOST GAUGE and back off straight away if it passes 7psi to prevent blowing the turbo!!!!, if it boosts past 0.5bar(7psi), then you have a faulty boost controller!, if it still won't boost past 0.5bar with vac line disconnected, then you have some serious exhaust back pressure issue, possibly blocked cat, or you may have a leak somewhere in the system i.e, cracked pipes, blown gaskets, damaged intercooler, etc.

I got carried away and pointed said finger.... swaped it for the one that was running with that valve on 9psi got to .6 bar thats it I swapped the cooler as well incase it was leaking same deal so I think it may be the bleed vavle or something else it cant be exhaust as its a straight system no cat

I didnt even think to try the disconnect vacum off thr gate ill try that see what happens cheers :)

    • List all of your mods. It sounds like an aftermarket ECU hitting rev limiter. Like a valet mode, or a cold rpm limiter?
    • @Kapr Haha yeah thats the one. I missed that you had a built up engine, I wouldn't want to run it on there either then. It was good in my situation just to replace the original turbo on a stock engine. @MBS206Yep definitely not a replacement for anything name brand
    • You are selling this? I have never bought something from marketplace...i dont know if i trust that enough. And the price is little bit "too" good...

    • It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about. Reliability of everything in a 34 drops MASSIVELY above the 300kw mark. Keeping everything going great at beyond that value will cost ten times the $. Clutches become shit, gearboxes (and engines/bottom ends) become consumable, traction becomes crap. The good news is looking legalish/actually being legal is slighly under the 300kw mark. I would make the assumption you want to ditch the stock plenum too and want to go a front facing unit of some description due to the cross flow. Do the bends on a return flow hurt? Not really. A couple of bends do make a difference but not nearly as much in a forced induction situation. Add 1psi of boost to overcome it. Nobody has ever gone and done a track session monitoring IAT then done a different session on a different intercooler and monitored IAT to see the difference here. All of the benefits here are likely in the "My engine is a forged consumable that I drive once a year because it needs a rebuild every year which takes 9 months of the year to complete" territory. It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about with this car.
