My r33 gtst has standard shocks and the springs are cut. I am in the process of changing suspension bushes cause they are stuffed and steering is really bad so i am considering doing the lot (springs and shocks). I already have a set of king springs at home i think they are 140mm lower than standard ride from what i gathered... Not sure about compression or anything... What is a good value set of shocks to get? i dont want to spend a fortune but just want to get a set of good quality ones that will keep my car low, and not be 2 bumpy for street use like my chopped springs.

Sorry for the long post any help appreciated...

140mm lower than standard are you sure dude that is way low, well actually you would be dragging a fair bit of stuff :uhh:

How much do you want to spend is the question to ask your self, bilsteins are about $900 for the four, not to hard pritty good for street use. You could get KYB's for a bit cheaper don't know what these would be like though, they are about $750 for four.

If you lower it a fair bit you are going to need alot of caster and camber dialed in.

What sort of bushes have you got.

At the moment my camber is stuffed bad. My insides of the tyres wear out before the outside is even started. maybe it was 40 mm lower not 140... Intending on spending approx $1000 not much over that. at the moment the car is like 3" lower than standard so its a pretty rough ride and the M-spec bar sits about 1.5 inches above the ground.

I doubt you'll be able to get a set of springs and shocks for that price. Unless you go for second hand. Just Jap has some second hand suspension at the moment on sale. Check out www.justjap.com but be aware that these are usually coil over packages and may not improve the comfort factor.

Otherwise get a good set of springs that aren't too low. Like a set of low kings and keep the factory shocks until you can afford new shocks. You'll probably find your bumpstops are rooted and need to be replaced as well.

try UAS..

mention SAU member (have you joined yet?) and you will get some discount.

Bilstien -> 225 x 4 = $900

whiteline spring -> $2~300

so should not too far from $1000..after discount

Sorry Boro, I could not get the RSM at this stage, something need to fix first.

I already have a set of king springs as mentioned in 1st post... Im not too fussed about a bumpy ride as most lowered cars are like that. Just when my car bumps it rattles everything inside it and the window's etc. My mates S15 silvia is low but when he hits bumps the it bounces off them smoothly rather than my banging etc... I am not after a standard set up and intend to keep the car low.

Im not too fussed about a bumpy ride as most lowered cars are like that.

But it doesn't have to be that way, you can have a nice ride. :aroused:

Just choose the right components in the first place. It doesn't cost more either. Sidewaymambo posted the right suggestion, Whiteline springs and Bilstein shocks. :P
