I think I will do the same and finally put some full synth oil in the R

I'll put in the stuff Zane bought, but because it's different to the stuff we used to use I have no idea what it is  I haven't had to pay any attention, it's usually magically already at home when I need it  I have an oil supply fairy, his name is Zane... And if I do go to buy it then he gets it off the shelf and I just pay because otherwise I get distracted and we never leave haha!

Haha well we used to use Motul 4100 Turbolite (at least that's the one I think it was), but then it was hard to get as most places stopped stocking it so changed recently. Which is why I don't know this one :) I think it's a Nulon oil that we have atm but I am pretty sure the next stuff will be Penrite... All I know is this stash has to be used first so Zane will be glad I am doing my oil this weekend so he can buy the Penrite next time :P

Yeah, there are so many and everyone will tell you something different about each one! I remember when I went in to a store in Canberra looking for some of the Motul and the filter I needed, couldn't find it, told them what I wanted then snapped my biscuit because they tried to convince me I was an idiot and it was the wrong oil, they looked at the commodore outside and assumed that's what I wanted it for and I was like you f**king tool it's for my damn skyline now do you have the oil I want or not?

cAndy! The only place I seem to be able to get an x181 is online. Are they that good that I can take the risk without trying one out?

Just googled it. Jeebus! Look at the meat on them!!! It's like the old MRF bats.

I too am a penrite lover. When I can't get royal purple that is.

Turbo lite sux balls

Didn't have any issues with it, until it became difficult to buy.

I went to superlap a few years ago and one of the royal purple promo girls scarred me for life, it was horrible to see... So, so, horrible!!! Should not have worn that outfit and to make matters worse, should not have gone commando in that outfit! I pointed it out to the boys to share the burden and I think they were also scarred for life... The other one on the other hand could have sold it to me if it wasn't for her oompa looma sidekick... That right there is what I am reminded of every time I see royal purple...

Did you just turn the topic onto cricket bats?

that depends - if you keep punching holes through engine blocks no amount of oil is gonna help you :P

    • Have you done the Ignition Sync Wizard in the AEM software?
    • Find out what RPM it was idling at with the IACV unplugged. It's very weird that the rpm didn't change at all, and then it stalled. When it stalls is it nearly like a switch off, like you've turned the engine off? Or is it more stutters and sputters and coughs to death over a few seconds? Or does the RPM just slowly keep going down and down? Have you done a test of trying to start it with the AFM unplugged? Does it still die?     If you Follow Josh's advice on using Nistune to check the voltages (which is a perfect method!) if you see anything out of wack voltage wise, THEN get the multimeter out and read the voltage directly at the sensor. If the two vary, then you're now looking for a wiring issue vs a sensor issue. So be aware, what the ECU sees, may not be what the sensor is actually saying too...
    • You very likely need to get it on a dyno and tune it. My assumption is, you've got an RB25DET tune in it, which has a different manifold, different injectors, and different cams as a minimum. What O2 sensor are you running?   When you say it runs extremely rich from idle all the way to redline, is this just free revving it you see that?
    • I seem to the be only person that is using a Haltech 2500 on an NA motor, I've installed a Bosch DBW throttle body to the OEM intake manifold and am having problems maintaining AFR even with the wideband o2.  It will run extremely rich at idle and up to redline, but under load it will go extremely lean in the 20s and i'm essentially having to rev it over 4k and feather the clutch to get it up to speed.  I've read a few other threads of about the butterfly, it seems removing the vacuum to it is supposed to have it remain open, i've noticed no difference under 4k with the vacuum line to it plugged.  I'm hoping someone here has had luck using the NA manifold with Haltech, and if they happen to have a tune for it.
    • I don't know any details, but I really wouldn't be surprised if they do it as a LHD only version, at least initially.
