The gentle hum of an A/C unit has never been an impediment to my sleep before, so that would be far preferable.

Got jack of it eventually and called the cops. They said they couldn't do anything unless the shed was actually being broken into, but then she could hear it over the phone and decided to send a car round. They made it stop somehow
