Mugabetown - Whoretownin' At It's Worst.

Recommended Posts

Spent the afternoon looking at turbo/s options.

I'm just getting more and more confused.

Partly because i'm not really sure what sort of power I want to end up with.

Thats why I don't get concerned with final power figures, focus on how you want it to drive and forget about the power figure.

McFly is one of the fastest street cars in the club around LP and he's only got 320ish HP.

Thats like my old R32, it was twice the car at 245rwkw compared to 330rwkw. I was so dissapointed at how it drove I had to sell it! lol

How much HP Pete?

And what do you want use the car for?

400Kw would be nice. But at the same time, The car is never going to be a serious track car (white GTR at lakeside and all) so response is key. Stroker+E85 might give both, and somethin like a BW 7670 or similar sized Precision (6266?) might be just the turbo.

I don't. He will have to prove me wrong with a massive skid

First thing i did was install a skids switch...

That being said I was won over by the launch crowd on the weekend. No reason why i can't have both though.

Bunts!

update re: unicorn

Man I have had so much going on with work and estate stuff that I haven't really touched it. I have the new ECU in and running. I have the crank trigger and I have a new exhaust. I need a balancer and to take it down and get it fitted and tuned. While I am there I am getting pipes made up so I can re install the stock airbox. I doubt I will get the time to do any of this until July or so.

Pete,

Big ass single, Precision 6466, big exhaust cam and slightly smaller inlet cam, possible stroker & head work. Should nett you some healthy numbers whist hopefully having decent response

deceased estate or real estate?

Sounds like a fair bit of progress mate. Hope to eventually come cruising with you some time

Deceased estate. I will come out with you when is done. Need to squeeze the cruise in between finishing it and going over seas for 6 months!

all good mate. I understand you're situation trust me.

Rushing things tends to always attract mistakes.

Better off to take the necessary time to get it right.

Hoping Ants. Im trying to hold of guess-timations of power out put etc on this one. As long as it doesnt make less that 588 [Cant see how this would be possible] I will be happy.

I just want to have this car semi-reliable and be able to just enjoy driving and racing it for the winter time. Its spent far to much time and money over the past 8 months in workshops

    • Wife wanted basket things in the wardrobe in our temporary house. Thought about ripping our the wardrobe and fitting the entire IKEA set, but it's a temporary house and we want to move in a few years. So IKEA advertises this as a 50cm unit, however the actually basket and rails measure 46cm wide. Only issue was depth, IKEA stuff is quite deep, where as the builder special junk is super shallow at less than 40cm. Send it, chopped the rails, then offset the mounting holes, job done, happy wife, less shit scattered all over the bedroom. Did the same to the other side too. Also drove the Skyline shit box today, dropped off oil at Supercheap Auto. I didn't realise they only now take max 2x bottles per visit. I visited 2x Supercheap Autos.
    • I've seen similar actually in my situation. You never know what tables are attempted to be used when the car thinks it's -99C or +200C. The fail state is not usually that extreme but you know what I mean - it was in my case though! This is where being able to read all the sensors is useful cause you see this stuff really quickly.
    • The above is very important. However as long as you keep timing relatively low, it's plausible to make your own knock ears and plausible to learn to tune with a modern ECU that can do wideband O2 correction like a boost controller. I mean if you only have one viable road to even drive the car on, learning to tinker to this level may be worth doing given you can't do much else with the car...?
    • I find the fact that the rear plate has to be bent inwards at the rear not so bad: but the front is just awful: It's like come on. (these are my very old, now retired/turned in plates) TBH it is a lot of money to fix a minor issue, the fact I said "I'll never really spend the money on doing this" is why people ended up buying them as a gift for a 'car guy' who can be hard to shop for.. for car guy things.
    • I just bent the ends of my premo plates. It even went through Regency like that after the engine conversion and the inspector (a great bloke!) just squinted his eyes and said "I didn't see that". Plates, and how they look, are just something that have zero importance to me.
